So this kid really wants the Legendary Flames. I said that there'll be a few codes kicking around on eBay if he looked to which he replies that he cannot go on eBay, and then he goes on about how 343i should just give out the Legendary Flames.

Anyways in his recent message he says that he's making a lobby where everyone will be able to unlock the Legendary Flames.

"im trying to make it a flame lobby it doesnt level u up it just unlocks flames"

I told him that Microsoft would permanently ban his account for hacking online, but I don't think he believes me.
Do you think he'll get banned if he goes through with this?

Since it's not possible for him to "hack" the legendary flames so he can give them away, no.

Since what's not possible?

That a kid can't hack, that Microsoft won't ban him, what?

I miss Halo. Maybe Halo 4 will change that.

Edit: Lol nope

Legendary Flames being hacked would result in the accounts with said hack banned since the unlock requires a code.

That's what I'm trying to tell him. He's now pulling the "someone I know works for Microsoft" routine. If someone from Microsoft really was helping him wouldn't said person lose their job for breaking their own rules?

If he wants to do it, just let him. He'll get permabanned for sure. Just don't get entangled with that kind of stuff.

Everyone is entitled to their own wrong opinion.

I'm part of the Bungie.net Minecraft group/server called SeptaCrafters
We're a Bungie.net group that goes to our very own Bungie server. Most players are from the Halo community either off Bungie itself or through word to Halo friends.

Yes it is possible to hack/mod it. And yes he would get banned likely perma banned for it. I suggest staying away from it just in case the kid knows how to "hack".

Oh yeah, since somebody does not believe what YOU believe; that makes us vapid...
I cannot grasp that what you call "Something happened to nothing, and that nothing became something, and it was smaller than than a period."

This is correct, but I am still disappoint that some people can be that dumb.

There is no possible way for a lobby to unlock it for someone else. Legendary flames are unlocked through a container file that is licensed to your specific profile, and signed with M$'s private key. Modders bypass those container signatures for the exact reason that they can't sign files like microsoft can, and anyone without a modded console would not be able to use it (ie. people in a lobby).

It's possible for them to make their own account have it, but only while they're on a hacked xbox, it would cease to work if they loaded that same account on a normal xbox. Said modders would be banned from Xbox LIVE not Reach, as Reach wouldn't detect them doing anything weird as they are running a modified executable (which means only server-side ban checks would apply, such as service tag modding).
