Don't judge a book by its cover, unless it has bacon on the cover, then it is a good book.

Hey Bungie i heard a rumor that you guys like to hang out here.

well I have a proposal to make. the members of the flood are always getting into religious debates, but of course that is against the rules. I was wondering if we could set up a single thread where all religious discussion could take place. there would be a lot of rules of course laid out in the original post. the conversation would have to remain civil and if a user started flaming others or trolling he would get banned.

do you think it would be possible to sanction a single thread for the purpose of religious discussion, I fell that it would allow those in the Flood who feel a constant need to talk about religion a place to go without getting in trouble.

could you consider this request please. also B.net community what do you think of this idea.

Spread the love...

I doubt this would happen because the trolling and flaming would become to large. However, I'm sure you could make a group or join a group that's meant for religious debating.

Religion is always a touchy subject. Best just leave it be on here.

Sorry. Religious discussion is not allowed. Confining it to one thread in the Flood doesn't change that.

While this website provides a great means to communicate via the forums, it is first and foremost a Game Developing Company's website. With that in mind, they can't have controversial topics, such as religion, on here at all.

That is why it is against the rules in The Flood. No politics and no religion.

Yeah, because that would end terrifically.

I've never understood the logic behind the proposed solution, if you want to call it that.

It would be a spam fest... just look at the occasional religious threads that get made and remain open for a few hours. You'll quickly notice they do nothing but create spam.

Theoretically speaking, they could. It's certainly not illegal. But I sure wouldn't want to deal with the ramifications of allowing it. Where would you draw the moderation lines? Do you censure someone for attempting to convert people? If you do, and evangelism is a tenet of their religion, aren't you being unfair to their religion? There's so many shades of grey when it comes to what is appropriate and what isn't that it's just easier to say "Nobody talk about this," and it guarantees that they won't lose any members or business due to their moderation choices in an argument.

If we could guarantee that all religious and political discussions would be well-reasoned and genial, I don't think Achronos or the mods would have an issue. But generally it's the opposite with those two topics; they've spawned more wars than pretty much everything else combined, because "I'm right, you're wrong! Agree with me or burn in Hell!"

Religion is a very sensitive topic that usually leads to flaming and/or trolling, so that's why it's not allowed on the main forums. You can however create a group for religious discussions.

True.

Take the SOPA thread that DeeJ made for example, that one thread allowed us to discuss politics but a lot of people ignored the thread and continued to make more threads about it.

I'm not against the idea of a single thread because of spam and flaming. At least then it would all be in one thread rather than having, say, seven threads on it, all hot topics, all of it spam. But there lies the same problem. People who would actually want to have actual discussion/debate would have to sift through that same thread for "real" replies to the topic at hand. Have you ever tried having a conversation with a person in a thread when the thread itself keeps going up by 20+ replies in what seems like mere seconds? Damn near impossible.

The Flood can't even compose themselves for two minutes so no, no religion and no politics.

Bye.

If you allowed the "Religion Thread" then you would get people asking for the "Politics Thread","Big Spam Thread","Image Thread" and "Post one thing you love about defnop!" threads.

In my opinion it's better to just rule out these discussions, which inevitably go downhill anyway, instead of granting favour to one over another.

Also, add foreign policy threads to the blacklist as well. And those conservative vs liberal ones too.

That single thread would grow tremendously, there would be no way for any moderator to keep up with anybody who breaks the rules.
