Gettin' all Herodotean up in here!

While this website provides a great means to communicate via the forums, it is first and foremost a Game Developing Company's website. With that in mind, they can't have controversial topics, such as religion, on here at all.
That is why it is against the rules in The Flood. No politics and no religion.
Theoretically speaking, they could. It's certainly not illegal. But I sure wouldn't want to deal with the ramifications of allowing it. Where would you draw the moderation lines? Do you censure someone for attempting to convert people? If you do, and evangelism is a tenet of their religion, aren't you being unfair to their religion? There's so many shades of grey when it comes to what is appropriate and what isn't that it's just easier to say "Nobody talk about this," and it guarantees that they won't lose any members or business due to their moderation choices in an argument.
If we could guarantee that all religious and political discussions would be well-reasoned and genial, I don't think Achronos or the mods would have an issue. But generally it's the opposite with those two topics; they've spawned more wars than pretty much everything else combined, because "I'm right, you're wrong! Agree with me or burn in Hell!"
