It seems a lot of people are saying that if we object to what's going on that we are defenitly bad people. C'mon now, Bungie was made to make stuff that makes people happy. People should complain if they feel cheated. In a respectfull way of course.

Still, nobody has answered my question. Why didn't Bungie just make the new format similar to the old format, with the improvments like the forums and such?

Know what will be cool, a themes ideas gallery. Where we suggest ideas for group themes to get people's creative juices going.

I have a few nice one's:

* Regional themes, a Halo 2 theme for say Australia; that has like the same pictures from the Australian Halo 2 site background www.halo2.com.au he he, Covenant ships above Sydney Harbour.

* A classic bungie games theme with (gnop, and other early games)

That’s all that comes to mind, but I'm still thinking, but as usual I have too many more important things to do than sit around making cool stuff in Photoshop.

I got my Halo clan and my HSC to look after. :)

P.S I just love those Cloud effects for the Halo 2 intro's at E3 and on the Australian Halo 2 site, they are awesome. Being a fan of graphics art; I know cool looking stuff when I see it and those swirling orange clouds OWNED!

Is there going to be a theme that makes it look like how it used to? I really don't like the new look. I don't mind losing the stuff that went with it.

I devised a new way to set up events poorjason. You can find the Article at Chapter Founders.

I do not like having our Chapters stuck in this tiny content area. I find the new bungie forums hard to navigate and use. I know the Chapters will be more important once the stat system starts collecting play information, and I hope that the usability and uniqueness of each chapter increases.

I would also prefer for Chapters to only be known as Chapters, and not Groups.

I understand the back end is better than it was, but the front end of our new 'groups' is very unfriendly.

I'd say it was in order to make it flow better with the new bungie.net. Now its all blue and it looks like the rest of the main website. Themes will change that but I think thats one of the reasons. It could also just been easier to start over "groups" from scratch rather than to modify the old chapters.

I'd say it was in order to make it flow better with the new bungie.net.

I know they had to switch servers and such because of the expected traffic, which is fine. And reducing of databases and those sort of things. Some of the changes in the forum were nice, and those added options for founders seem pretty cool too.

But I don't see what they hoped to accomplish by changing what we loved and worked for just to make everything flow with the mainpage. It's ludicrus just to start shooting a fully loaded change gun at everything and then proclaim the radically changed system the "new hotness" and then denounce anybody who misses the old format a disloyal fan.

The chapters are not old, just forgotten.

For some reason I find that new members, for whatever reason it may be, don' t even realise that there are "articles" or "link pages" or many other features that are available. Now, this may be because everyone who joins my group is inept (even though I know your not guys), but is there a way make the front page a bit more easy to navigate? Not that it isn't, but unless one is really curious and goes clicking around one won't even be aware of all of the great features our new groups have to offer.

That main page is harder to navigate. It's not impossible or anything but with the sidebars it was much easier.

And just so you know Bungie, I will win this battle in the long run, you may have won the battle, but I will win the war, I always win the war.

I miss a few things from the old system, but I also understand that the 'new' system is probably nowhere near fully-implemented. However, there are two things that I really miss that I will be really bummed about if they don't reappear at some point.

1. The events calendar that used to sit on the side. It was just so freakin' useful, I can't believe it's gone.

2. The database sidebar, which allowed you to quickly display/access the databases that were most important.

Bring these features back, in some form, and I'll be happy enough with the 'new' format.

Yep.
I couldn't agree more.
The new hotness seems to force a good deal of conformity.
Many chapter founders were able to use the sidebar to customize, and individualize their chapters. "External Links" were used to create unique menus, etc...
I miss that, really do.
Okay, maybe most people didn't use the "Submit Event" feature, but I sure did. What's more, I had intended to use it even more for Halo2. You see, I will be runnning an Xbox Live 24/7 Halo2 Dedicated Host (Draquar) {my Group is the bungie companion for my dedicated host}, and I was going to use the "Submit Event" feature to schedule what gametypes were going to be available on any given day.
Pros
* The Forums are now cool...* and your Signature now appears in your Group Forums, the same as in bungie.net Forums.* The code is the same in-chapter, and in-bungie.net forums.

The one thing I really like about the new hotness is the fact that you can write a News Article and link it to a corresponding Forum Thread. I will be creating Resources, advertise those Resources with a News Article, and my members may comment and question the info in said Resources through the connected Forum Thread.
That's cool, but we lost a lot of functionality. Unique functionality. And for that, I am sad.
Question is, is what we gained worth what we lost?
Seems like a lot to give up.
More Themes will be cool admittedly, but where are our options for creating unique interfaces?

Some carry the world on their shoulders, I carry it in my sights.

I think that Group ADMINS should be able to sort their members by rank instead of alphabetical order.

It was a cold day near the southern base in Blood Gulch. Cortana and I were relaxing over a game of Go Fish, WHEN OUT OF NO WHERE 700 BANSHEES CAME FLYING IN!!! I GRABED MY SPARTAN LASER AND LET HELL REIGN DOWN UPON THEM. I HOPPED IN THE NEAREST WARTHOG AND TOLD CORTANA TO GET IN.

First. Being blessed to own a rediculously slow processer and aweful browser, I'm of course always looking for shortcuts around the site.

Just how slow are we talking? I mean, this has probably been asked, but I just woke up. I bet mines worse...

The xbox live layout and features are not what I thought they would be and that's what i've been posting here. They sure need a criteria search and list propagator like counter-strike.

hey there, I got some caoinage to toss in as well. i do like the Info I am able to pull from these forums, bt whenever I ask a question, the only way for me to find outif anyone has answered is to cut and paste the URl..

Why doesnt bungie.net have a "thread tracker" feature like every other foroum out there? I feel so disconected to these forums beaces I posted the 18th and now my thread is 27+ pages back in history. The only way I can find it other than saving the URl beforehand is to go through each page and do a control F to find the text of my subject! Bungie shame on you! The lack of this simple feature has bugged me for some time. I hope you can do something about it, it peeves me to know that even if I can convice myself that I am in contact with bungie, net, I cant prove it because my threads are lost to history within 24 hours!!!!
