Although I do loathe the fact that you refuse to move your pinky one key over and hit the damn capslock button, I will point out the major "platforms" for either side of this debate.
I think it is safe to say that a majority of people out there think that the Forerunners are, in some way, human or our distant relatives. They base their case mainly on quotes from 343GS in his speeches of activating halo, his mentioning lost history, and his "how could you hesitate..." line. Most of these arguments are quite solid as they have their origins within riddles in the games.
Others believe that there is no way that humans could, in any way, be human or our relatives. They base their arguments on, to a lesser extent, loose sayings and images in the game. I would have to say their strongest and most plausible arguement would be 343GS as well in the following conversation in the Control Room of DH:
Arbiter: And what happened to the Forerunner Oracle?
343GS: as a last resort my creators activated the rings and they, along with every other life-form within three radii of the galactic center were killed, as planned.
This argument would seem foolproof in showing that humans are not Forerunner, and i would have to lean towards their side for two reasons:
1. It's way too predictable to be a Bungie idea.
2. I have not found one GOOD reason that the Forerunners did not all die. I've heard the arguments, timemachines and Shelters.
People thinking the Ark would shelter is probably the most interesting if believable of these. It would be based on Genesis 7:7 and the Noah's ark story in which Noah builds the ark to escape the "flood." My one largest problem with this is that they would have to stay in the ark until all the Flood died out. If they left the ark there would have been no point of Making the ark as a shelter. If they left, they would get consumed by the flood, if they stayed in there they wouldn't evolve/devolve into humans.
The next most believable is the "timetravel" idea. Some say that maybe the actual activation of the rings happened in the future and the Forerunners traveled bac in time to escape the "wave of death: and slowly become humans. I can't stress enough how stupid this is due to the fact that a smarter move would be to travel forward in time to a time where the flood had starved. But if you want to tango, you found your partner.

TA: What if they could only travel back in time?
MA: If they traveled back in time and slowly became humans they wouldn’t become Forerunners once again, build and activate the rings, and travel backing time to start the loop over.
TA: what if they didn’t need to restart the loop and this was directly after the first time this had happened.
MA: When you travel backing time there is always a loop. You will never be the first one to have done it as you in another time will already have done it. End of argument.
I believe that the Forerunners were something completely different, but I do respect the overwhelming amount of arguments from the other side. If you have any I failed to mention, please post them and I will try and tell you why you are wrong, lol
