I would like there to be, but most of Bungie's fanbase have little or no skill in that feild. Therin lies the problem. Make it easy to use and you restrict pros, as they are not able to use their full potential. However make it more technical so the pro developers can do their thing (like with the current Halo Editing Kit for PC) and you alienate the rest of the fanbase who find the kit too complicated. I know I did at first, and it took me a few months to understand the kit.

no, multiplayer maps should be extremely balanced to make them fun and i dont think u should lay the fate of the fun of the game in the hands of other player but in the hands of the develloper. Cause there are lots of idiots that just make stupid maps (check THPS) that arent playable at all. I know there are lots of guys that make serious maps but how can u separate them from eachother. Furthermore, if u make a map editor u will end up with so many maps that u cant all learn and thus making it quite frustrating to play. The halo 2 multiplayer maps had so many sneak routes and hidden routes and it will be insanity to learn those routes of hundreds of maps. And last but not least: if bungie spends time making a map editor they have less time to devellop other stuff in the game and what i would realy like to see is the great multiplayer of halo 2 combined with an epic and very long single player never seen before in any game/music/movie/play anywhere. Make this most tragic and epic game ever created. That's what i wanna see. And if i compare the trailer with the cortana files and all that stuff it looks like were gonna get one very epic game.

a hard question

I love learning new stuff so a comlicated editor would be nice, but then only restrict it to split screen, there would be billions of maps out there if it was on live.

They can make it as complex as they want, but I draw the line at typing code for a map.

its a good idea, if your worried out how techincal the map making would be, you could have a pro version and a beginners version (like on timesplitters on the xbox) having lots of maps would be more realistic as in a real battlefield you dont fight over the same piece of land constantly, thats just my view...

No, I've seen many of the map editors on Xbox games and I'm not impressed. The detail put into the least of Halo 2's Multiplayer maps can't be touched by anything short of a profession development kit, and you can't fit that along with Halo 3 on one disc. And the level of precision control when useing a mouse is alot greater for these kinds of things then what you would get with a controler.

I know about making maps because I used to make modifications to existing halo maps on my xbox a while ago. Makeing a completely new map is alot harder then changeing an existing one, and a good mod can take weeks to finish. No one will invest the time to make a "good" map that is balanced and fun to play on. People will try to put in their own secret weapon caches and teleporters to give them an advantage over the other players.

The map maker just won't work, and I hope bungie realises this, because I won't play on Live if I have to download a new map for every custom game I come across.
