Relax, they aren't all pony related.

I had a little mishap where I accidentally reported someone who didn't do anything wrong (I have no idea why I was thinking it was reply) but it spawned a bit of curiosity.

Would you like it better if you could click "Report" and have the ability to include in the report the reason you are reporting?

*Yes Option 1: [In my opinion the best option] would be if I clicked report and more available options as to why you are reporting popped on screen just as if you were to file a complaint on Xbox Live. You could then check the Square Radio Buttons to mark a report properly under "Spam", "Promotes Flaming" etc...

***Yes Option 2: Would be to click the report button and a character field (like the one you type in to reply to posts) pops up giving you 500 or so characters to type whatever it is you'd like to help describe your reason for reporting.
I have no idea if this has been discussed before, but in the month or so I've been coming to the community forums I personally haven't seen the topic.
...and I'm not making a suggestion, I just want to see what you as the community thinks of this.

I'm gonna finish it. Just like Jigga did to the pyramid.

TL;DR
OP : Not really as it is the ninjas who will pass verdict. All a report post does is inform them of a problem.

The moderator has to look at the post and decide whether something breaks the rules or not anyways. Why waste their time reading your opinion as to why something is bad?

If you're reading this, congratulations. You've just pressed a button to find out a little bit more about me. Not that you will, but well done anyway.

I can see why you'd consider this, but the post and poster in question would still have to be scrutinised by a mod, so there's no real reason to have this system except to make the mod more aware of the content of the post before they see it. But they'd still have to view it and make their own decision.

Who the hell do you think I am?

Well first, if somebody gets reported just once nothing will happen. It's when they get reported multiple times that a moderator will actually have to look at it. And they'll look at the post anyway, so nothing needs to really be said along with the report.

@Geegs30

I don't think it's necessary. The mods will see something in the queue and decide for themselves if it's warn/ban deserving or not. I guess this could be implemented just to make people feel like they're making more of a difference.

Now, in the quantum moment before the closure, when all become one. One moment left. One point of space and time.

I know who you are.

You are Destiny.

That's their job and discourages reporters due to the "laziness factor" we all have. Why would you want more work when clicking a button, lol.

More work? Ha! Have you seen my walls of text? Doesn't bother me! But that's why I kept mentioning "Optional".

And I know its ultimately the Moderators decision, but in the end by any means it is always the moderator's decision.

My Screenshots / My Group / Remember to follow the rules or you will get trapped in a box.

There far too many reports to have that feature. It would take the ninjas too long to go through everything. Plus stuff that requires you to speak directly to ninjas is rarely seen. Most ninjas only need to be contacted when a person is spamming bad links.
