I mean I hear alot of people say that bloom takes away from skill, but it's meant to encourage the pacing of shots which is not only more realistic, but takes more skill from my point of view. In fact, I think they didn't go far enough with DMR bloom, it needed to be higher so weapons like the AR could've actually had a use outside of being a noob crutch, thus making the use of both vital for victory, (currently I only find myself using the AR as a quick substitute for reloading). Instead of everyone just running around with their roflDMR, people would use the AR to dish out more close range while using the DMR for long range battles or map control with a team acting as a unit.

I just don't get how some people think spamming the trigger as fast as one can whilst aiming at the head of said opponent is difficult/requires skill. Some people argue that bloom makes the game less fast paced, but isn't that what halo is all about? If I wanted fast paced gameplay I'd play some stupid casual game like CoD. Fast paced gameplay is the reason I didn't like Gears of War 3 as a matter of fact.

So what gives people, I fail to see how bloom takes away from skill at all, if you ran around firing a rifle in real life as fast as you can you'd miss damn near all your shots, all skilled marksmen pace their shots, I just don't get what your angle is here and I know I will probably just be considered trolling.

But I don't care, because this topic is about my opinion. Which is exactly what saying bloom takes less skill is when you get down to it, an opinion.

With that said, any well mannered explanations as to how it lowers skill other than not rewarding the player for spamming the trigger like he's had too much coffee will be very welcome and appreciated, thank you.

How is shooting slower take more skill? More time to aim = easier to aim.

And the problem with bloom is you can perfectly pace you shots and get killed by someone who just spams out a perfect 5 shot from medium range while aiming extremely poorly.

Film clip showing the massive skill gap the ZB DMR has.

Ohai, I'm Loscocco (pronounced Loss-cocoa). I'm a college student (computer science major), 3D animator, and long-time Halo player.

The logic of the people that hate bloom is not: "damn! I can't spam my shots as fast as I want," it is, "damn! People that do spam can get lucky!"

Bloom is inconsistent. It allows players to inject luck into how their precision weapon works. You can take your chances and spam, hopefully get lucky, and kill the enemy incredibly quickly, or you can play it safe and be guaranteed accuracy. This doesn't work; there is absolutely no skill in determining what rate of fire you should be firing at, it is just as consistent as coin flipping.

The only thing good about bloom is that it doesn't allow the DMR to fire across entire maps with pinpoint accuracy, but the bullet should instead just drop at a predefined, consistent distance.

I know that's why I'm saying they didn't go far enough, accuracy needed to be completely gone after the bloom bar raised too high, instead of leaving the player with still manageable accuracy. People don't seem to veer in the direction of balancing bloom though, and instead want to be rid of it.

It was a great idea; but like many great ideas it was only great at being stupid.

It would still 1) be WAY too inconsistant and 2) be WAY too drastic. No one wants a gun that you can shoot once every 5 seconds at the cost of accuracy. It wouldn't even make sense to have a gun where your accuracy is affected as if your Spartan develops Parkinson's every time that you pull the trigger.

It would be easier, make more sense to the sandbox, and be consistent enough to please gamers if the gun had a fixed rate of fire, with perfect accuracy and a consistant drop-effect that stops the gun from being able to cross-map.
