The thought of me being called to post in a thread, regardless of whether I have interest of the subject, does not appeal to me.
Well you're not an employee, soooooo...
I don't see why that matters. Would you want to be called upon to post in a thread you had no interest in? Or to be told I HAD to answer questions in threads?

That sounds like work to me. This website is meant for fun.
It's not a requirement. Obviously. It's just a list of things people are calling for employees to respond to. They clearly don't HAVE to.

Just like the ninjas don't HAVE to do anything even if the report queue is full to bursting or if there's a spam attack in the flood. It's not imperative.

And the abuse argument people are using is just as silly as it is for every other abuse argument used in this forum. If there was no report button currently, and this thread was made to suggest the implementation of the report button, people would say the EXACT SAME THING.

Big difference between suggesting something to help out the forum moderators and suggesting something for employees to answer questions, Crazzy.

Why implement such a silly feature then?
The ninjas decided they would moderate for these forums. They knew a little bit of what they were getting into. Employees who choose to post and browse these forums need not be bothered more than they already are by the masses. And I guarantee the argument for a "report" button would be a one-sided one with little opposition or cries of abuse.

Very true. But there's a difference between "Bungie when's you're next game coming out?" and "Bungie has an entire branch of your company used to promote and publish indie companies and games been closed?". Just as there's a difference between "I dislike this person's opinion" and "This person is bypassing the profanity filter.

And this (at least if implemented ideally) wouldn't be extended to all of the employees who choose to post on the site. I'm sure there are plenty of regular members who post on here who we don't even know are employees because they wish to not be recognized as such. Only those with gold text, who only have it because they wish to and have no qualms with having it, would receive the notification. Having that gold text already holds you to SOME level of representation for the company to SOME extent at the very least with respects to your field.

I can't see how this would help.

Everyone thinks their question is the most important. Everyone wants their question answered. Everyone would use this feature, and employees would just start ignoring it.

Also, if you really want them to post in your thread, you could always PM them.

  • 05.05.2012 10:23 PM PDT

Spread the love...

This could work but I can see it being abused. Maybe if only trusted members could do it.

This is true. The unfortunate reality is, however, that only my questions are of importance.

And what/who determines members who are "trusted" and members who aren't?

As I said, that is why it would take multiple button presses for it to appear on the queue. So it would take more than just your own hunch. If that is still a problem, you could just make it so you could not enable people to do it on their on post.

People persuading friends into voting posts up for the "Call" feature. I don't know man I'm just curious as to why this option is needed when we already have a direct line to the employees via PM.

Did the first post in this thread say how Employees are deciding what they think is important? I don't think so.

Irrelevant because it would take multiple "calls" just as it would take multiple "reports" to make a post pop up in any sort of queue.

Just as everyone thinks their thread/post is the most important, lots of people have one member that they don't like that they'd like to be able to report every post thereof.

The parallels between this feature and the report feature does not appropriately correlate with the amount of complaining people are doing.

Again, it would take multiple "calls" to even notify an employee. Just. Like. Reports.

*"Buddy Bumping" will result in severe bans for all parties involved. "Buddy bumping" is asking, coordinating, arranging, or otherwise causing other people to post in your thread for the purpose of generating replies rather than for actual commentary on the media displayed in the original post. Bans for violation of this rule will be severe.
Why not just add the same infraction to this. It would deter and collusion to get posts on the queue.

It's the same as making a thread in the septagon saying "everyone go report this guy".

Bannable offense.

How would this be tracked at all? Buddy bumping with what Foman is referencing is within threads.
PosterA: Good Idea
thread remains idle, hits second page
PosterB: Yeah, cool idea
etc.
The report system doesn't show who reported threads, just a number value that brings it to the mod's attention.

Just because we believe the report system does not, does not meant that this system couldn't.

I'm just going to leave it at this. I think this idea while having good intentions is not needed. I think we get good interaction already with employees who frequent these forums and that if you have a question that NEEDS to be answered by them you have a tool already at your disposal. I'm not saying that I'm against all new ideas for improvement of these forums by any means either.
