OK the question is to you want matchmaking as a secondary option to just start up the game hit the matchmaking button, find a good server and just play, however this accompanies the other main option of a server list and choosing yourself.

PLEASE READ BOTTEM PART....

Ok, I mean they add in the game a option for multiplayer that allows you to quickly find a server with the settings you want in the server, rocket starts, number of players, if you want warthogs and much more in dedicated servers, not Bungie servers. Not the type of matchmaking xbox halo 2 has, I mean your finding servers that are dedicated and payed by people, the servers in the server list.

*IF* its secondary, and IF it doesnt affect the game. But considering the state of halo1, and that this is being released on a brand new operating system (which will have bugs, its natural), I'd rather they didnt.

It would be nice if we could choose between Matchmaking and the Gamespy servers.

Ya thats what I mean, like keep the server list but add this little bonus feature for matchmaking with the settings of your choice and enter a server quickly, if you just wanna play and frag some people just hit the little matchmaking button and play, but if you have a event like the Maw gatherings pick the server and play.

So long as they don't make me pay for online play, I'll be happy.

If they implemented a matchmaking system based upon skill, my guess would be that they would make us pay for it. It's something that the Xbox users have to pay for, and if we received that feature, we'd probably have to subscribe for it. Which would deter me from Halo faster than a grenade-wielding Marine to an unshielded MasterChief.

(...eew...what a corny analogy.)

Since Live Anywhere won't be implemented for H2PC and H2 for the Xbox, us PC gamers probably won't have to pay to play online.

No, you guys don't understand, I mean they add in the game a option for multiplay that allows you to quickly find a server with the settings you want in the server, rocket starts, number of players, if you want warthogs and much more. So what your on about, is basically what I do with halo.

Use the filter (gametype, ping< etc) and get a list of servers. So the only difference is that the matchmaking option would simply choose one for me in that list.

Not much point in that really. I like to choose on players. For example, you can choose to filter empty or full servers, but I like to go in a server with at least 4 or more in. Otherwise, you would keep getting chucked in people own servers with just them in.
