Well, this might have been said before, but i was just thinking, the reason that earth is even called the Ark could have some great significance. Think about it, in the Bible the Ark was the place where Noah took refuge when the Earth was being cleansed of the filth of sin. So maybe the only way to escape the effect of the halos is to be in the ark at the time of activation, just a thought, but someone has probably come up with this before me.

The earth isnt the ark, the ark is located under its surface.

But, um...duh.

yea and it would make sense for it to be both, the ark of the covenant, and the ark that protects.
Because the covenant would use it to kill, and it could protect you.

...only in The Flood

Give yourself a pat on the back for reading nearly any other post on this forum(besides the OMG NEW GLOVES! ones). The Ark of the Covenant is also where the 10 commandments and Moses' staff are kept.

It could well have two meanings. Since there is the Flood, the Ark could be a safe haven much like the biblical Noah and Noah's Ark. The Ark, in the Bible, not only saved Noah and his family, but two of each animal as well. This leads to ponder whether all the races of the Covenant were saved as well the last time.

Alternatively, if we want to speculate that the Ark is the "Ark of the Covenant", then perhaps this Ark contains immensely powerful Forerunner relic(s). A superweapon, perhaps(in consideration of the Halo). The Israelites were able to crush whole armies by wielding the Ark of the Covenant in battle. Could "the Ark" of Halo do the same?...

Yeah, i pretty much said that up there.
I dont think the covenant were saved then as well though.
I doubt they were in existence.

All we need is a High Priest.

Quick as a razor, sharp as a bullet.

how many times have these biblical assumptions been made. yes, it is logical and a lot of things are related to the bible but don't start saying as if it is definite: The Ark is a safehouse from the halos!! because it's nowhere in the games and bungie haven't said a word on it.

I'm an advocate of keeping a lot of these theories fluid.
