Subject: Create a skull for Halo 2 Anniversary

Posted by: Sliding Ghost
Those are much better ideas than mine! First one would fit in with the constantly spawning Jackal snipers. Imagine an army of them.

Jackal Sniper army... scary. I would like to see someone survive that though. I tried Sniper Alley on Legendary, not too fun.

Agreed. At least sniper alley Jackal snipers are set spawns. Regret is where the pain is though I may have a strategy for them if I ever do a segmented LASO attempt on that level.

Halo multiplayer sucks!

Based on campaigns

Halo 2 > Halo 3 ODST > Halo 3 > Reach/CE tied

Boss-At the end of every mission there is a boss fight. Oracle, Regret and Great Journey stay the same, but all the other missions have a new boss. Here are my ideas

Cairo Station: A shining silver elite with a fuel rod and 4 times over shields. He must simply be dodged and shot until he dies.

Outskirts: A giant hunter, 3 times the size of a normal one. Get behind him and lay into him, but avoid his melee.

Metropolis: A jackal with overshields, a jackal shield 5 times stronger than a normal one with no peek holes. To defeat him, you must take down his shield, then shoot at him until you damage his overshields significantly, while he fires dual wield needlers at you. Repeat 4 times.

Arbiter: A pair of heretic hunters, who have 4 assault beams, two on top of them, one on their blade and the normal one. You must get behind them and shoot them.

Delta Halo: A shining purple elite with overshields, a jet back and a beam rifle. Shoot him until he dies but take cover often, as he is far more mastered with the weapon than a jackal sniper.

Sacred Icon: A mini Gravemind (literally Gravemind shrunken down). First you must kill the flood forms he send at you, then you can get a clear shot at him. 4 sticky grenades should do the job.

Quarantine Zone: A 5 times bigger enforcer. Stick him in his weak spots until he blows up.

Gravemind: A shining golden drone with overshields and carries a fuel rod gun. Shoot him til he dies.

Uprising: A big brute chieftain who uses nothing but his fists and is in a constant berserking state. Hit him in the back 4 times and dodge his attacks.

High Charity: A big giant flood combat humanoid form. Should him til he dies.

It gets boring replaying the same boss fight over and over again, especially if there's barely any ways to play it differently.

H2's boss battles weren't pathetic like H3's, but they were still horribly done.

Heretic boss - game puts player in immediate danger (meaning 12+ deaths before managing to get to cover), headshots should be able to kill him, no way of distinguishing real one from drones afaik (other than depleting shields)

Regret - nearly impregnable shielding, copy and paste weapon (Hunter assault cannon recolored), has to be boarded, player can't control the direction he gets off after boss teleports (so it becomes necessary to kill the infantry forces), infinite mooks (without them, this battle would be super easy)

Tartarus -

nearly impregnable shielding, has to be hit by the beam rifle, sword wielding friendly AI can't damage him, infinitely spawning friendly AI can barely damage him, horrific way to dispose of friendly AI (the death barrier is right below the bottom-most platform and if an Elite falls off the middle platform, he crouches when he lands and dies), no checkpoints (the former two had checkpoints).

Also, it has a lot of exploits (Johnson clones, Keyes distraction, bring vehicles to battle, Elite army), though this is not necessarily a bad thing.

Shinobu-Combines mythic, angry and thunderstorm and gives all enemies 4 times over shields. Also, whenever you melee an enemy they go flying back further.

haha that will just mess the whole game up, like how Grunt Funeral Skull messed up Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary

"To me, a nice triple kill with the sniper is infinitely more impressive than any Living Dead Killionaire"

Does flaming people on forums count as an esport?

Nope. Bad idea. The skulls in Halo 2 are perfect. Keep it so that they can only be obtained on Legendary difficulty, and they cannot be toggled on or off from the menu. Keep everything the same. Blind can be found on any difficulty, the rest stay Legendary only. Keep the exact same code behind the IWHBYD skull and its spawning.

The reason why H2's skulls are better than any other Halo's is because they can only be found on Legendary, and they cannot be saved to a menu. It broke my heart that they did that with H3. In H3, skulls were easy. Look up the location online, play through on normal, and do some sort of tricky grenade jump or something to get it. The challenge was finding the skull, but everyone knew the locations so it was simply a boring grind to get them.

Halo 2 was so much better because while the locations were still online, the Legendary only part made them so much more satifying to get. In Halo 2, you actually had to FIGHT for your skulls, and while it could be hard for some skulls, it only added to the satisfaction once they were attained. In Halo 2, the challenge was not finding the skull, the challenge was getting to the skull.

Still, it's a -blam!- turning on/off skulls for LASO. There should be a skull menu (as long as we don't have to restart the game to turn off skulls. Think about it. Perma camo would be much more convenient).

As for collecting on Legendary, I understand what u mean. That itself is an accomplishment, equivalent to completing the game on Legendary.

But who says new skulls won't be a challenge to get?

Maybe some skulls can only be found on LASO

Which gives me an idea

No. We don't need another Bandanna. That would be defilement. Regenerating grenades might work though. That would have made CEA's Bandanna slightly better.

As for invincibility effect, it could replace active camo/flashlight, lasting 10 seconds on lower difficulties and 5 seconds on higher difficulties. For perma invincibility, perma camo glitch would work.

Personally, I don't see the point of either effects when a game save modding program like Liberty exists.

For those of us who don't have PCs and can't mod :P

I think it should just be permanent invincibility. It would be a reward to those who completed it on LASO. You find it on Great Journey at the Tartarus battle. To get it, you must kill Tartarus by melee and then quickly pick up the skull that drops from his dead body.

It's inevitable a modding program/support will come out for H2A. There's one for CEA.

It'd be better/easier to just make a wave challenge like IWHBYD skull:

After defeating Tartarus by killing him with a sword, if requirements are met, Elite allies would turn on Arbiter and 7 waves of Councilors would arrive. Hunter pairs would occasionally spawn.

I actually don't have a PC so I wouldn't be able to download modding programmes.

I don't really like that idea. They shouldn't turn on you, because it would just disrupt the story, which is the best thing about the game. Better if it was something else, maybe even flood?

So you're typing in a public place, school, or something?

Yeah good point. Flood wouldn't be so great either.

How about jackals? Or drones?
