OK, I was up at school today (broke into the band room to grab my XBOX, saw the projector and screen down, decided i didn't have to be anywhere) and decided to play on the MAW to do a really quick run before my mom called the cops. SCREAMED through on Heroic, dickin' about and having fun with Elite cmobat forms whose arms i decided to blow off. Found out you only need to destroy the tentacle hand, not the othe one. Cool. ANYWAYS, got up to the point in escaping the warthog when you're forced to make that HUGE jump down into that little half-pipe after seeing FoeHammer go down, in her blazing glory. You know the Banshees are OPEN when they fly by? The cockpits aren't shut. Off Subject. Anyways, i got a checkpoint after blowing past Foehammer and went down a ramp, peeled around a few corners, ran down 3 Spec Ops grunts with fuel rods and then 2 elites. went down another ramp, on the left side, and some flood forms barge out a doorway, you run them down, and go WAILING off the jump.
I didn't. I stopped on the little outcropping you're supposed to go off of, and looked off to my left. i noticed a smaller outcropping a ways down, a small block jutting from the wall. The surface was slightly red, from a little light down below. I tried just sliding off the outcropping to land on the surface. it was tough, because there's ablock right there above it that you can slam your forehead off of and fall down down down.....but if you just slightly nudge off it, you can land there - but not alive. It's just BARELY far enough for you to die upon impact. So i reverted.
THIS TIME, i went off in the WARTHOG. i nudged the tires up to the edge, and slowly accelerated to get the chassis over the edge, and slowly, gently nudge the 'Hog off the outcropping. I hit the other block, got kicked out, and kept hitting "A" to hop off the vehicle in an attempt to land on the small jutting block. The whole reason i did this was because i THINK the game determines when you die from a fall by how fast you're going, so by falling from the driver's seat, which would be slightly lower than the outcropping when tipping over, i could survive.
I had 3 bars of health left. It was incredible. FIRST TRY. So THEN i noticed a sort of...is LATTICE the right word? anyways, it was a sort of sideways triangular pillar stretching across the room. halfway across, another one, perpendicularly below it, went over the half-pipey thing. So i jumped down onto it - a leap of faith really, i didn't know if it was TANGIBLE in-game, so i shot at it with my pistol, saw sparks, and decided i could walk on it. I could.
Walked around a bit, thought it was a first in the Halo universe, and went off to the Tech Lab to find a camera (my father's the Tech Ed teacher - isn't that awesome?), and came back to find myself still there. Sat down, looked to my feet for my controller, and immediately looked up to see why the room was getting brighter.
I forgot about the time limit. I watched in AGONY as the Pillar of Autumn went up in the most saddening and infuriating ball of fire i'd ever beheld.
So that was that. I'll try again tomorrow for a screenshot. I actually DON'T know if anyone's been there before - anyone seen it @ HBO or anywhere else? Don't wanna lay claim to something already done. It's not that significant, but still cool. Like, going where you're not supposed to. And stuff.
SECOND THING i found today was while guiding a frined of mine - he's like, 9 by the way - through the PoA on easy. So he's foolin around, trying to duck under crap and not get hit by Covie fire through the closing blast doors, laughing at the stupid techs getting their -blam!- ruined by plasma fire and ghostly plasma blasts. He gos through this one door, down a short dark hallway, and open a door. An elite stands there, waiting for him, and immediately does his infamous war cry. Assault Rifle fire ricochets off his shields from down the hall, to the left, where he can't see. he decides to BOOK IT to the right, and watch as the Marines take care of the Elite.
So i'm watchin', the marines firing short bursts, rolling and dosging, and the Elite doesn't die. He keeps taking hits, as do the marines, but they don't die. Finally he braves the fight, and goes forward, past the fight, and hits a loading point.
The Elite, it's hands at it's side, against a wall, next to a marine, it's head pointed upwards for whatever reason, FREEZES. "What the HELL?"
He saved the checkpoint he had right there, so i could take a SC later. I let him do the level over on my profile, and he did the same thing - only this time, when we met the elite, he backs down the hall to the right, and a door shuts, and the marines usher us forward.
We blocked his path, forcing him to fight the marines. It's not supposed to happen. It was cool.
That's all for now. Also, has anyone ever bashed an Elite's body so many times that the constantly overlapping blood spray starts to slow down the video card / processor / whatever o the point that it will bash every like 21 seconds? it's really fun. I THINK it's the video card, only because it only slows down to -blam!- when all the blood's on your screen.
Anyone seen this crap before? am i not as original as i tink i am? Does noone care?
