Subject: You know why the community died out after Reach?

Because Bungie abandoned it.

Reach wouldn't have sucked so bad without bloom since 2010, or if Armor Lock wasn't able to shed off stickies since 2010.

But Bungie proved how much they will support their community. Getting rich and abandoning it. At least Treyarch and Infinity Ward Patch their damn games.

Or it's because they couldn't do anything other than a MM update every month? They didn't abandoned the community.

I can guarantee you that Bungie would of made a TU if they could, and it would of been done properly, not half-assed like 343 did.

When I play to win I voice message people call outs.

Treyarch and Infinity Ward have to patch their games, because there are OP guns, and weird glitches, etc. Vanilla Reach was still playable just not very good.

I would like to believe this but Bungie had their chance to fix the garbage Beta > final release but they didn't.

Jeremiah is the only Bungie employee I trust.

  • 05.07.2012 10:02 PM PDT

Yeah, but it was pretty obvious that they couldn't do anything game altering after NMP. Jeremiah only did what he could, funny enough some of the stuff he did to please the people on here was taken away from 343. lol.

  • 05.07.2012 10:10 PM PDT

The moment they signed the papers where they could just release Halo games and not patch them was the moment when they abandoned the community they were supposed to support from the first place.

You're right, maybe even before the NMP Bungie lost total control, doesn't change the fact that they obviously had little to no care in what the community wanted.

Jeremiah did amazing work with the limited tools he had.

Halo 3 would have been amazing the entire time if Jeremiah was in control.

A lot of people would of done a better job than Shishka.

This.

As for the OT, the Reach community died out because the game pushed away a lot of long time fans, the ones who stay after the next CoD or Battlefield game is released. As such when aforementioned games were released Reach lost a large amount of it's remaining population.

What is left now is either-
-People who genuinely enjoy Reach and probably disliked Halo.
-People holding out for Halo 4.
-People playing MLG which got rid of all of the "Reach" elements.

I don't fall under any of those categories.

What do?

You are a little in in category 1 and a little 2 is my guess. Why do you actually play Reach?

  • 05.07.2012 10:59 PM PDT

To play with friends.

I hate Reach, I'm not holding out for Halo 4 because it's gonna suck and I rarely play MLG lol.

That's what I gathered. For a while a tiny bit of me was holding out hoping H4 will be good, I really have my doubts. Meh, will see November or whenever this game comes out.

Also check your PM's.

I don't blame Reach, I blame Call of Duty.

It destroyed everything we knew and loved in Halo 2-3 era.

It is only going to get more popular, no end in sight. Limitless, while Halo is only going to sell less and less copies because it isn't a game that you can easily adjust to 10 years later, and the original fanbase is whithering away for a variety of reasons, such as game quality, competition, personal factors, etc.

The 10 year old kids most of us were are now probably too old to play anymore, and not enough newcomers are joining.

You blame the wrong thing than.

Bungie refused to make Reach a good game. That's why it was so easy for CoD to take over.

New Zealand is pretty much the best place in the world.

Cod will start to die with black ops 2 and people will buy halo 4.

~ Videogames are my favorite videogames ~

Whole lot of assumptions in this thread.

Whilst I agree that Bungie half-assed Reach, I cannot blame them. They were forced to make this game by microsoft. I believe that microsoft forced alot of -blam!- out of bungie, like the massive cutbacks in halo 2 (which was supposed to be 7 x more epic). Even when bungie leaves microsoft, m$ cannot help but seize halo as their own IP and give it to 343 to take a dump on. I'm glad bungie did this as a final 'goodbye' to microsoft. And to be far, reach is still a relatively good game and racked up big profits.

Oh yeah, since somebody does not believe what YOU believe; that makes us vapid...
I cannot grasp that what you call "Something happened to nothing, and that nothing became something, and it was smaller than than a period."

I'm curious where the population went, then. Hundred of thousands of people stopped playing Reach. They sure as hell didn't go back to Halo 3 (Which everyone was perfectly fine playing up UNTIL Reach came out). 10 to 1 their all playing CoD or BF3 now. Some fans, eh?

You forgot one.
-People who hate Reach, but still play it.

would of

It's would have Boom. Every post--come on man.

OT: The community died out after Reach because Reach just isn't that good. Some of the things 343 did made the game better.

However, just like the fiction it's based on, this game was doomed from the start. The developer was leaving midway and we went a long time without any fixes to core gameplay. Couple that with bad maps on release and even worse maps from forge and you just don't have a good experience.

Oh? Do go on about how you came to that rather silly conclusion. I mean, adding Armor Abilities (yes, Jetpack too), Forge World/Forge 2.0, complete overhaul of Arena ratings based on the community's demands, matchmaking changes every month that followed directly what the community wanted, bloom (which the community asked for, yes), constant upgrading of the banning/monitoring system to ensure cheating was at an absolute minimum (which they did EXTREMELY effectively).

Seems to me like you're just conveniently forgetting everything Bungie did because they cared about the community just because you're blind.
:/

I dont know anybody who wanted any of those things (except for the cheating). The arena change was needed, but it is still a far stretch from what the ranking stystem was in the past.
