What do you have in mind? I'm sure DeeJ is all ears.

Well, not all, but I do have two of them. And eyes. And a mouth, as well as fists.
No feet though huh? That's rough.

I can't play MTG I have class he says. I'll play later he says!

Pish posh!

Anywho, I sort of get what the thread maker is saying, and I agree a bit. Personally I'd love an essay problem, but that would give Deej WAY too much to do I think, hah.

Scavenger hunt? Whomever can beat me in MTG gets a second place prize (I get the first because... come on now!)? I dunno. I'm not the creative one.

Do you have arms to go with those fists?

Well, maybe the challenge could be centered around another creative medium.

Yes, let me go invoke my administrative rights (cause I totally have those as a student) to download Cockatrice and all the cards from the Oracle onto a school computer so I can play a 20 minute game with you when I should be working in the Math Center.

*rolls eyes*

There's a difference between making posts in the scant minutes I have between tutoring people for math and playing an entire game of Magic.

I do agree that a writing based challenge, while difficult to judge, would be awesome.

Hyle why are you on Bungie.net when you should be tutoring/ sitting there like a rock waiting for people to tutor? Shame.

I like what DeeJ is doing. We should keep having a variety of challenges, so that members with different skill sets (like unartistic me) will be able to participate in some of them.

I've been shortlisted with this. It's not difficult. And complaining that a challenge is too hard when something as simple as that^ to get on the shortlist for winning, then it isn't all that challenging.

for that competition there weren't many good submissions. Except Ben's of course
I was shortlisted for TWO and the "Help me name a room at Bungie" challenge! Thank you very much. GOML.

OT: A scavenger hunt would be cool. Something more long term that would require us to work together or else spend a ridiculous amount of time on it and fail.

I don't mind contests regarding a degree of specialization. I think this community is large enough that it still works even if it requires a tremendous amount of talent (in fact, this most recent one definitely proved that).

It's not always just artistic challenges. I won Killane's Mythic Map Pack game a while back, which was definitely a technical challenge, requiring users to know about encoding and figure out that they needed to open image files in a text editor for clues. They also needed to know certain elements of Bungie lore. That's not a contest for everyone, but it was still a very close call at the end, and a lot of people came close.

I don't think that every challenge needs to be "fair" for the concept to be fair. Specialized is better...it creates more awesome products and highlights true talents of the community. I think as long as the required specialization is cycled enough, and there are occasionally some "bring a crayon, anyone can win" challenges in the mix, it will still be fun for all. Plus, it's rewarding either way. I sure can't draw the winning picture either, but I enjoyed it - as well as all of the other finalists - enough not to care.

We need one that involves writing.

i see a lot of talk, we need this we need that, this could be better that could be better, though a few here seem to appreciate what DeeJ does for us i haven't seen a single "thanks" so let me say it Thanks DeeJ for the awesome that you bring upon us. as for this thread...
well perchapse if someone actually had a well thought out challange, considered ALL of the community in it as well as what our community mannager would have to intow to make it happen, wrote it all out, what it is, how it is, when it is and how it ends, than maybe, just maybe the one that's slightly (IMO) been dissed by this thread would consider it

in conclusion i'd like to slap you in the face ALI217 and... DMRs at dawn O_O

A creative writing challenge? Yes please!

He'd have to keep it under a certain word limit so as to ensure his ability to read them all in a fairly short amount of time (most likely with some hired help).

I would like to see a bit of variety in the challenges. I am never on when the challenges are set.

I think the OP just needs to give DeeJ and chance here. xD He's gotta come up with a serious challenge each time, which really isn't all that easy. So give him time, I'm sure he'll pick something that you are capable of competing in. :3

Yes Costco. I need a 50lb bag...I mean sack of sugar.

I think instead of making different challenges, the rules of the current ones need to be followed. Last week's was to make a photo realistic depiction of the two factions duking it out. Only one of the final submissions we voted on met that requirement. Either that or it was worded badly.

I was under the same impression, so perhaps some more clarity? But in all fairness DeeJ is making doing a lot for us when Bungie doesn't even have to respond. So thank you DeeJ!

"I would kill to get a killionaire... 10 times... digitally."

I would enjoy seeing sometype of scavenger hunt over the web. Like the 5 minute google challenge, but it takes longer. So, you would have a couple days to work on it. Plus, DeeJ could just open up a new thread for the answers at a random time on a certain day, so any number of people could get the answer before the thread is up. That way, whoever happens to see the thread first and posts the answers first would win.

You know this idea is win, lets see if we can get DeeJ to use it.

No I like them how they are right now.
You want it to be nothing but quick-fire google-searched trivia and/or drawing challenges until the end of time?

Sounds boring.

Oh yeah, since somebody does not believe what YOU believe; that makes us vapid...
I cannot grasp that what you call "Something happened to nothing, and that nothing became something, and it was smaller than than a period."

I for one enjoy the fact that Deej has been posting the Mail Sacks around 5:00 my time, so I have a chance to see them early in the weekend.
But yes, something other than 5 minute Google searches and art challenges would be nice.
