Like in Halo 1 & I think 2 you could ride on the sides but in the rest of the games you couldn't. Why would they take that out? It was fun In halo 1

I intend to live forever, or die trying,

so far, so good.

I think you could only do it in Halo 1.

YES, this was cool.

So basically... Waypoint is pro-vanilla?

Posted by: Sentox6
Waypoint isn't pro-anything so much as they're just anti-intelligence.

Seeing how fast tanks were in Halo 1, and how even a perfectly placed rocket couldn't kill all 4 passengers in one hit, it was extremely effective, and if the tank driver was smart the passengers were not sitting ducks.

Then again, look at how slow tanks are in h2 and onward...

Plus, I'm not sure that, realistically, sitting in a completely vulnerable position where you have nearly zero advantage being attached to a walking bomb that will detonate if you so much as look at it funny, is a good idea.

Is this even a legit complaint though?
They're the ones risking having their whole team wiped out, and of course it might not always be a full ride either. Maybe only one or two guys need a ride.

Stand on top of it. Then you get the exact same effect, but with a full range of motion and without anybody accidentally getting on the side when they meant to get in the gunner/driver seats.

Sitting on tanks was nothing except for hitching a ride. Anyone decently intelligent could figure out that sitting on the tank for long periods of time will just get you killed.

You can accomplish the same thing by standing on it.

Welcome to the internet. Joy dies here.

Wasn't that an option in ODST?

And yeah - I see why they pulled it - it's suicide to sit on the outside of the biggest threat your opponents are going to face. You know it's going to be targeted immediately. You won't be able to get close enough to anybody to actually use your weapon before you get blown up, and the tank gun trumps any weapon you've got anyhow, particularly when you factor in the disabled scoping.

Halo 1 physics did not allow this, any moving object you'd fall off. Along with 1mph splatters, these were fixed in h2 which also made the tank a slow, useless piece of junk.

But we're talking about the tank in other games.
