Subject: Every other player is muted but i cannot unmute them?

Please help! Everyone i play with is muted, i did not mute everyone and i cant find out how to unmute them. I've heard of a mute ban or something but i cannot imagine why i would be banned. If i click on a player individually and click unmute it does nothing. I have changed all my settings on my xbox and the audio options for my game on reach and nothing helps. Please help me unmute everybody

You get mute banned when too many other players mute you- typically for things such as being loud, vulgar language, or playing music.

I had never done any of those things, so i can only imagine i'm not mute banned then? I hardly even used my headset. Now even if i don't have my headset plugged in it has the mute symbol next to everyone elses names :/

Parental settings might play a factor.

I don't have any of the parental controls turned on. I WANT THIS MADNESS TO GO AWAY! D:

Dear OP, do you have a Kinect, perchance?

  • 05.08.2012 4:50 PM PDT

I don't actually

  • 05.08.2012 4:51 PM PDT

Huh. Well, then I'm stumped. Set your voice chat settings to "Team and Party only" and give it a few days. Usually, if anything, the enemy team will mute everybody on the opposing team so they are unheard. Setting your voice settings to "Team and Party Only" will make the enemy team never see you as having a mic in and they are less likely to mute you.

Except you don't have to do any of that to get mute banned.

So how do you get mute banned and would i possibly be mute banned and how do i get unbanned then?

It doesn't matter WHAT you get muted for, it's how many people muted you, regardless of what you might have said. You don't even need a mic to be mute banned.

As for how long, no one really knows. Quite a while though.

If you're bad at the game people might mute you because they will think you're like 5

Well i'm not that bad. I'm not the greatest but i don't suck balls. If i am banned, i have been for about 6 months now. I would like to think i am not banned though :(

Did you try going to xboxlive .com and click my account/ view profile / privacy and online settings? You may have everyone blocked so that no one is able to communicate with you. It is worth a check.

-Check your audio and video settings, make sure they are all correct (none of them are muted).
-Try checking you privacy settings in the dashboard, it should say voice which will then be either (everyone, friends, blocked), you want to have it on everyone.
-Otherwise I don't know. Mute ban doesn't show others as muted, they have you as muted and you can't tell.

Im mute banned and for me it doesn't show that other people are muted i can still see their mics but i just cant hear them until they manually unmute me.

You aren't mute banned it looks like something has to be wrong in your settings if it shows that everyone is muted for you and you cant unmute them.

The 343 forums suck. They're full of retarded kids and mods who got butthurt in the B.net forums for being told that they're bad.

Mute bans don't show others muted, it shows YOU muted to THEM.

Its your settings.

Weird thing is with "mute all" enabled, nobody has a mic. I guess that means it has to be privacy settings.

Yeah, If you do "mute all" with the in-game settings then it won't even show you having a mic.

It's probably privacy settings.

Thought you might have been right here, because when i went there my setting for "Voice and Text; Decide who to communicate with using voice and text on Xbox LIVE. This includes voice and text chat, messaging, and game invites." Had been put to 'friends only', i did change it to 'everyone', but still hasn't changed. I turned my xbox off and on again and still nothing. I'll give it a bit. Otherwise, i got nothing.
