@Geegs30

Pretty often. Obviously it's a lot easier if it's a custom emblem instead of a public one.

This is why people who change avatars are terrible people

Oh, people like me aren't so bad.

Posted by: HALO3syourdaddy
Hate when someone I see around a lot changes theirs.

Hmmm...yes. I'm gonna quote that.

I'm not OP, but I have a question for the community similar to it, and I don't want to have to make a new thread. Anyway, as you know some users have the same avatar due to the limited amount of avatars (excluding the Halo custom avys). It's bound to happen, but my question is this: Do you guys ever notice the member's title color along with the avatar? Take for example this thread. I could always tell Burrito from the others because of his mythic member title running across the middle of the page.

I don't know, I just found it funny how the avatar isn't the only thing I'm quick to notice at a glance, aside from the username obviously.

Yax is a shining beacon in these dark times. You should all strive to be more like Yax.

Avatar, titlebar colour, and username (in that order) are all things our minds notice instantly/sub-consciously and process that in to which user it is. Although I think it's more username length/shape rather than what the username actually says.

Or whatever.

Agreed! Especially here in the Community.

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

Oh yeah, since somebody does not believe what YOU believe; that makes us vapid...
I cannot grasp that what you call "Something happened to nothing, and that nothing became something, and it was smaller than than a period."

Very heavily.

I'm a stubborn guy. I love to argue my opinion, but unlike others, I'll try to see your side of the problem. I'm a triathlete, with a very heavy empephis on the swimming bit. Also, don't hate on the ~Quinton~ at the end of my posts. Why are you still reading this? #creeper #hashtagcashmoney for hashtaging on Bungie.net

For employees and ninjas I use the avatar to identify who they are. As for normal members, it is about 50/50. Right now I use the avatar more because the site is a tad bit slow, but when it picks up again I'll likely have to use the username again.

I cap fools.

The only person I ever use this for is Spartain Ken

  • 05.09.2012 8:07 AM PDT

They are the first thing to notice really, so a lot.

  • 05.09.2012 8:13 AM PDT

I instantly recognize some members before I read their names, just because I know that it's the avatar they always use. I'd say I recognize people by their avatars even more in private groups, just because it's closer knit with less members than on the mains.

  • 05.09.2012 1:04 PM PDT

Jack of all trades, master of none.

Depends. In public froums, no, as I use coup for those who have it, and there are too many people and too few avatars to use it for the rest. In private forums, yes, as sometimes coup is down and I recognise most of the emblems.

However, for more well know users yes, as I often recognise based on the emblem, since they post so much. In fact, I hardly ever read the names. I either recognise your embelem/cooup, or don't really care who you are.

So basically, If you have coup I use it, if not I don't because of the users:avatars ratio. Although if you have a different coloured title bar I am likely to notice that.

It only takes a simple question to change everything.

I use them constantly in the Community Forum, but I use them a lot less in other forums due to me not recognizing people there.

  • 05.09.2012 1:22 PM PDT

Life is like a clogged toilet. It's full of crap until you do something about it.

I don't speak Karate!

Only within threads. People constantly think I'm being a troll when I quote the wrong post.

I was annoyed because quite a few people had the same avatar as me, so I changed it.

You all just wait. The day will come when Achronos gives me my dream of having the mustache on my mustache bomb spin. Then? Then I will have my final victory.
Constantly spinning on a loop or every few seconds it would spin once?
Bro.
I vote Bungie satisfies Burrito's desire.

Yours in _Kai_

I rely on them a lot, people hardly ever change there avatar (especially here in the septagon) so I don't see a problem in doing so.

  • 05.09.2012 2:05 PM PDT

I recognise people using their avatar quite often, as long as it is a rare/unique avatar. I'm pretty good at remembering users by name too though.

I rely on pictures and associations, rather than names, there's too many people.

Good thing I have coup.

Does anyone have lotion?
*Raises hand*
Is mayonnaise a lotion?

Never. I always look at their username.

Why the heck would you use their avatar when looking at their username takes the same amount of time?
