I definitely associate avatars with users with no trouble at all. Little bit weird then when someone changes their avatar because it takes some getting used to again. I quite like the thought that barely anybody uses the castle emblem in Reach or on here so I think I'm safe... for now...

Exclusively, save Community Forum people.

Just yesterday some guy in the Halo: Reach forum was like, 'You know exactly who I am' and I said... 'No. I genuinely have no idea who you are.'

Because I don't know names. Ah well.

You should be the only person allowed to have the moustache bomb. It is you.

Anyway, mostly.

I guess I rely on them just as much as usernames. However, if I recognize your avatar, there's a good chance I know your username as well.

I really don't use avatars to recognize people anymore, but I use to.

This man, this man right here put it so eloquently that I actually cancelled my own 2000+ word long post.

The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

I recognize too many people simply with their avatars. Squiggy with the blue sniper, Hylebos with the Spiker, Petitminu with the victory grunt, lobster with the Super Intendant... The list could go on.

I remember some people used to recognize me because of my Cortana avatar. Now I'm sure I'm recognized because of the purple 7 I've been rocking for a while.

No I go by username.

I find that it gets confusing when people share the same avatar.
Usernames are all unique, So I go by those.

Always.

In fact, I almost never consciously look at user names, only avatars.

If I read a really good post, I look at the name, and then correlate that persons avatar to them.

Though this only applies to the community fourm, where the majority of posts are made by distinctive users.

Hello, I'm Mr AwesomePizza. I like pizza and I'm a man. Reasoning for the name. I like to listen to the classics of music, write poetry, play video games, and much much more. I'm always down for a nice chat, so please hit me up for some conversation.

All the time. I also use names, but I'm better with images.

I rely on them alot and was very upset when I saw King Dutchy stole the avatar that I used for an extremely long time and never saw a duplicate. So know im trying to reinstate whatever identity I had into this emblem!

Why not just keep using your old avatar?

Only with people who I talk to a lot on B.net. Sometimes if I am only looking at avatars, I will think one user is another user because they have the same avatars. Of course looking at the username quickly sets the record straight.

This thread started with three pages of people haxorzing my avatar.

It's why I not-so-secretly-in-fact-publicly wish for my spinning mustache bomb. So it can never happen again.

I recognize anyone that uses obscure Bnet avatars or creative or individualistic emblem schemes.

I also use my own avatar to recognize my own posts. For example, it's mighty helpful when zooming my scroll bar down to find a post I made in a really old thread.
