Subject: New Idea? (Double-Inbox)

Spread the love...

So I had an idea that sort of builds off of other ideas previously mentioned. Lot's of people would like to be able to send and receive Group Updates sent to everyone in the group. So I thought this idea could be formed into having 2 in-boxes, one for personal messages and one for Group/Bungie message.

Here's an example.

You would get messages from your group and updates from Bungie. You would also have the option to unsubscribe from any of these two if you wanted, of course.

Just an idea. What do you think?

Bungie.Match.com: Our Johnson knows what the ladies like.

Honestly, I'd rather have them both be the same inbox. The vast majority of users barely get any messages anyway.

I see what you're saying but if someone is active in many groups then it'd be a bit annoying to have their inbox cluttered from all the group updates.

I'd be perfectly fine with that.

There are many powers in the world, for good or for evil. Some are greater than I am. Against some I have not yet been measured. But my time is coming.

This could be cool. Working off the mass post idea, eh? Definitely better than having to make an LIVE account and having to friend everyone active the group. The worst part is when members become inactive, and you have to manually de-friend them to make up space. GUH!! Oh god I'm rambling again.

How would the subscription work? Would the admin of the group only have this power? I'm guessing it would be under the Security Role Editor option.

I guess once you joined a group you would be automatically subscribed to it, and if you wanted to unsubscribe there would be an option on the Group's home page. And the ability to send the Group update would be in the Security Role Editor like you said.

Please stop complaining about the 'death of a loved one' it's my job. They probably deserved it anyways. Here's a warning, if you keep making pentagrams out of the neighbors livestock I will personally come to your house and kill everyone you love. Now leave me alone, I got to get back to work.

I don't see the need for two inboxes. I barely use my one.

I was kind of thinking of something along those lines. Like, if it could somehow be fit in with the forums. Then I remembered the sheer size/activity of this site. Personally, I don't see how it could work if the idea extended past the groups, but it would be kinda cool to get something like a PM to everyone when Deej decides to sack the community (those who subscribed anyway).

A long time ago I had the idea of including a "Group News" panel on our profile pages. The idea was to display an aggregation of the RSS feeds (aggregation of the aggregation?) from each group you were a member of there.

This sounds like a better idea, but depending upon how many groups you were in it would get hectic.

Because he can't..? Well, I guess he could make it (as in code it), but he has no control over what features are implemented into Bungie.net.

The interesting part is that it would be extremely easy to create something like a desktop or mobile application which pulled the feeds from any group and displayed them.

I learn new things every day.

I really didn't understand most of it though, I just saw "HFCS" and thought "omg this is specialz"

Well, yeah. They are just RSS feeds after all. I do think it would get somewhat confusing though if one were in many groups.

Just click on the RSS button. It will give you a direct link to the group's feed.
