There is a thin line between insanity and genius, i would put myself right in the middle and i enjoy every second of it.

So I just finished my monthly campaign playing for Halo 3... It's just a casual run that I do every month on normal, I play every mission all the way through and obviously have seen every cutscene at least 60 times, but this time I saw something that was questionable... Okay, so this is at the ending of the level called "The Covenant", where Humans, Elites, and Flood all attack the covenant on the bridge in an attempt to kill Truth. However, In the cutscenes that show Truth at the end of the bridge... The brutes that guard him are just standard brutes and a few captains... Why wouldnt he be protected by like 10 chieftans??? I also noticed that on my run, which was on normal, that there were 2 chieftans on the bridge... Wouldn't Truth want to be more protected? Or is he just that STUPID?

Also, I want to add a bonus question to this... Do you think Truth respects the brutes AT ALL...? Or does he too believe them to be dumb apes? Somehow I feel he was more respectful towards Elites until they got their act together and left the Covenant.

AND ANOTHER BONUS QUESTION... This one is easy... Do you ever get tired of hearing these lines:

Truth: *Being infected* I... am Truth! *cough*... The Voice of The Covenant!!!
Arby: And so!... You must be silenced! *STAB*
Truth: AHHHHHHHH!!! *Dies*

C'mon... You love that scene... You KNOW you do.

You play Halo 3 monthly?

Because he views himself as "invincible", that he cannot die. That's why there's a lack of protection. Also fighting 10 chieftans would be crazy difficult.

True, but you don't have to fight them.. Actually, it would have been awesome that if we arrived at the end of the bridge, then we would see the flood kill all the chieftans so it wouldn't be a problem.

avid forger, love vehicle gameplay

another bonus fact that I just noticed.
If you've played Anniversay, then you'd know that mysterious reapeating image thaht kind of looks like some monitors or something. Well, apparently, the image is not 343's baby. I just noticed the same image on the monitors (actual screens this time) on the wall in the corridor after the scarab fight (in the level "The Covenant"). The image is just above the screens themselves.

It may have been noticed before, but i was just really suprised to see that the mysterious pattern in Anniversary was seen in only one place in Halo 3, in the room with the most significance to the plot of the Halo universe (so far).

"I may not be perfect, but always been true."

Truth respected Tartarus, or at least his potential for destruction.

He "marveled" I suppose, he even thought he could torn apart a Hunter with his bare hands.

He may have thought he was invincible, what with the whole divine purpose and all.

Realistically, Bungie probably just wasn't cruel enough to send 10 Chieftens at you at once.

It's because the Honor-Guard wouldn't be sent into potential Combat Zones in their Honor-Guard Suits/Armor/Whatever. They might have been Honor-Gurad Brutes, but just in standard Brute combat gear.

The chieftains were on strike that day.. you did not get the memo?

because truth is a strong independent Hierarchy who don't need no chieftain.

The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

Apart from this, I guess the other Cheiftains were on the Scarabs outside that were killed when you blew them up. The others were left inside and put in front to try and stop the Chief and the Flood, leaving Truth some sort of protection.

It would have been too difficult to fight.

If you're passionate about the thing you're talking about, I'll always lend an ear.

Generally in game events aren't really made with ideas of adhering to canon specific situations.

Otherwise Truth probably would have had his best and brightest on it, with a little more than 2 scarabs representing the mightiest defence in their most important moment.

But hey, maybe they were just that desperate and scattered out. Maybe Truth gave everything to get into the control room to activate the rings in order to top his killstreak. Probably just looking too into it.

Guys. He's not talking about fighting the god damn chieftains.

He's asking why Truth's final body guards were what appeared to be low level Brute infantry instead of a pack of Chieftains. It doesn't make a lot of sense to have a Sergeant equivalent and his privates guarding the most significant and important being in the Covenant does it? Truth should have kept the 2 Chieftains and made the Captains fight.

Exactly, thank you.

How bout the game developers just putting enemy group#1 here and enemy group#2 there and called it a day.

Of course Truth doesn't care about Brutes. He tosses the spiker aside with disgust.

He sees them as barbaric and imbeciles (even calls them that) though as we've seen in H2 and H3, they have the capacity to care about their allies (in H2, last remaining Brute will berserk and if left alone, will be crying. In H3, certain Brutes will berserk over the death of their Grunts and they notice their friend's death if they see the body/the body goes through them).

Anyways, Truth's defenses were pathetic. Relying on waves of fuel rod gun Grunts isn't going to help when an invincible Arbiter is among us. :P

It wouldn't be crazy difficult at all, you have an endless wave of Flood combat forms and infection forms all over on your side. You wouldn't have to do anything at all but wait until the flood devours everything else.

Yet another good way of how it could be possible, yes.

Another very good point, thank you. I didnt really want to include Thruth insulting that brute because he WAS an idiot for listening to Johnson... I didnt really pick up on how he threw the spiker down, however, I did see that he held it weakly, almost like it wasnt good enough for him.

Or even better: setup such a battle with 4 fully customizable (actually only 3 can be customized but it could have been 4) Arbiters!

Those Chieftains would be assassinated in no time.
