This is where I go to burn off some steam from all that repressed anger I have. If I insulted you on b.net, don't take it literally.

Bungie.com was originally our corporate site. When Myth came around, it had a matchmaking/chat service that we called "bungie.net". The web presence for that service (that hosted leaderboards and clans, but no forums) was www.bungie.net. It lived next to www.bungie.com, which was your standard company site.

After Halo was released, we decided to put everything in one place, and redirected bungie.com to www.bungie.net. That was probably more expediency than anything - bungie.net has dynamic content systems, the old bungie.com was completely static. And, if you think about it, .net is more appropriate - this site's primary purpose is as a social network (yeah, I said it) for our fans.

i heard halo reach is shutting down its servers

Bungie.net is facebook.

So because Bungie.net connects thousands of people who want to meet and discuss it is bad? Bungie.net is a SOCIAL NETWORK for all Bungie fans. Facebook =/= every social network.

Forums are a social network, they connect people and Bungie.net's are some of the best.
spartain you really need to learn when a guy is making a joke. That was one just then.

Lol sounds like kens been holding that in for a while... he was joking

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

1) by quoting him you direct your comment to his comments 2) they have been complain that bungie.net will one day add facebook features .

To Make Posts is Glorious

Some threads will get posts before others and it is the duty of the Leadership to ensure that posts are made that best suit the public welfare.

Still don't get why people still think top level domain names have anything to do with what the website is anymore. I can think of so many websites that use ".org" that aren't "organizations" or ".com" and aren't explicitly commercial.

Achronos, I tried to find it but I had no luck, but in one of the many "the Bungie employees don't care about us" threads that have popped up over the years I think I remember you saying that this site was never meant to be for the community and that other sites like HBO were for that... Is my memory failing me or is that essentially what you said?

If not, fix search so I can find exact quotes next time!!! ;)

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. And it is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves the flag, whose coffin is draped in the flag that allows the protester to burn the flag.Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC

Then why did you quote him...? And nobody here has said as of yet anything (from what I can see) against Bungie.net being social and nobody has called it Facebook in a malicious or offensive way.

So who was that directed towards in the context of this thread?
