Spartans are.

Or the equivalent to what the Spartan II project has created over the years. Does this make sense to anybody else? In "The Flood" Halo book, 343 GS says to the Chief that his armor needs to be upgraded, that it's not as good of a version as it could be, hinting that someone has been there before with better armor than him. Also, 343 believes he has talked to MC, or someone like him, when he says "when you asked me before what I would do..."

Since we know that a normal human can NOT wear the MJOLNIR armor without crushing their own limbs and organs, it makes sense. A lot of people seem to think that the ForeRunners were humans originally, but I'm starting to think that the ForeRunners were in actuality equivalent to Spartans in terms of intelligence and physical feats, especially if they were wearing MJOLNIR armor.

Also, both MC (in "The Flood") and Spartan Fred (in "First Strike"), both find something familiar about ForeRunner technology- MC in Halo, and Fred in the tunnels beneath Reach. Both of them seem to instinctively know how to use ForeRunner (and for Fred, Covenant technology in other circumstances, which was based off of ForeRunner tech) technology, and are rather competent unknowingly with it. They are even both surprised by this. Also, I don't recall humans feeling this way with ForeRunner artificats or technology- only Spartans.

So- that's my theory. Spartans, through experimentation, have become in evolution what the ForeRunners were.

Very good theory. But I'm not sure, there isn't any reason why the humans couldn't be the forerunners.

The one and only....

Sue Me!!!

The thing is it would make the humans the ForeRunners because also if you read the Fall of Reach the spartans were just normal people they were kids. They got trained and worked to get strong and intelligent. Also they were chosen from a list of people. Studied to see how they worked and what their weaknesses and that were. So it would make humans ForeRunners, or at least a certain group of humans.

One reasonable hint is if you shoot 343 Guilty Spark in the Library in Halo:CE he says "Stop being Human".

Or it would make certain groups of people Reclaimers. The Spartans were selected from group of people with certain genetic markers. Some of these makers could identify them as reclaimers.

... hum all good points.
my thought was that if your race was going to be exterminated (in whatever way) that you would want to make sure that in some way your race could live again.

"A RECLAIMER HERE? WE HAVE MUCH WORK TO DO."
halo 2 when the mc and arb meet the grave mind.

so humans are called reclaimers, i would think that the humans are in fact what the forerunners were, think of it this way, your race will be toast, so instead of just recreating a identical race of your own, (and have your enemy know its you) you would recreate what your race would have been 10000000000000 years ago, you then leave some thing behind for them to find, this would then tell the reborn race who and what you were and what lead up to there creation.

if you werer to have made your race 1000000000000 years ago your enemy would not know who or what they were so they should then be safe (or so you would think)

this is just my idea, i could be 100% wrong or 67% right. so meh.

Yeah, exactly- that's what I'm getting at. I know the Spartans are humans- but I think that humans, in creating Spartans, have perhaps sped up the evolutionary process- and the Spartans are what the ForeRunners once were. Humans can't be ForeRunners- they can't wear MJOLNIR armor, which was (apparently) worn by some ForeRunners at one point or another.

A very interesting theory.

You're partially right. It would be anyone with the genetic makers, or at least a certain one, that was/were used to slect the SPARTANs for the SPARTAN II Project.

Indeed.

I have thought about this as well, not as the way topic creator did, but wondered if the Forerunner had an army of super-soldiers much like the Spartans still in cryo-freeze.

You know.....this is a HORRIBLE theory. What about Mobuto (The other reclaimer at the library) or Miranda Keyes?

As for the class II -blam!-, that could just mean its level.

Like.....uber ship energy shield = class XII
Kevlar = Class I

See where I'm going?

  • 06.04.2006 8:01 PM PDT

That can't be right because 343 Guilty spark reffered to Miranda as a reclaimer and she is NOT a spartan. But maybe the forerruners "upgraded" themselves like the humans did.

a thought that i just had.

what if the ForeRunners left some thing in the humand DNA, like a distant memory that you just cant remember.
like learning to speak for the first time, no one here would remember that, but we all know how to talk (just not always spell) this could be why the MC and other Spartans werer able to use the ForeRunner tech as good as they could.

what ... you never know.

She could posses some of the same genetic markers that the Spartans do.

Opog that is a good point- I forget the soldier's name, but there was a soldier that went through most of the library in "The Flood", and MC thought it was amazing for just an ordinary human to be able to pull off a feat like that- perhaps it is something about a genetic marker.

And if not- I've never really thought that "Reclaimer" was necessarily synonymous with "ForeRunner" anyway... What I DO think is interesting, however, is how 343 GS talks to MC as if he's already been there- and him in particular.

You've got to think crazy, of course, because you only get innovation by refining insanity. - Jason Jones

I had a theory similar to this a year ago, something like this. The monitor recognized the chief as the reclaimer because humans had been to the rings before but only as spartans, only they used that space time bending crystal and were part of ackersons group of spartans. Or some previous group of spartans but it would explain 1.) why cheif is familiar with forerunner architecture and computer terminals (read books to understand) 2) explain why monitor already knows us, Reclaimer! (time space bending crystal was used). 3.) Would be one explanation as to why the area where the frist ring was located was in the databank of destination solutions, cortona picked it at random from the databank when she made the blind jump from reach.

its like a large force of win going through fusion, thus creating a chain reaction of a huge asplosion of win destroying any fail within its awesomeness.

Remember on Halo 1, MC operated the light bridge, also hinting at your theory.

That is interesting. He definitely talks down on Human beings with that statement.. Then again, he doesn't find out about "Human History" until he taps into Cortana's Data Arrays on the POA, or something like that, towards the end the last level on Halo - The Maw.

Maybe this is where he finds out the Mjolnir guy is now a part of "Human History?"

Did we ever figure out what we'd be reclaiming? Our doomed existence, maybe?

Flaw: 343 calls Miranda Kyes a reclaimer in Halo 2. Also a dead marine in the libary in Halo 1. Not to mention Johnson in H2 again.
