Subject: A new ban idea

Every member of the Covenant shall walk the path. None will be left behind when our Great Journey begins. That is the Prophets' age-old promise, and it shall be fulfilled!

What if, instead of being banned by all forums when banned, you were only banned off the forum you were reported/caught on? After two times being banned, you would loose all forum privileges.

What do you all think?

That doesn't really seem like it would do anything

In my opinion though

Then get banned for trolling a second time on all forums.

Its faster just to do it right away on all the forums

Here's an example:
Some guy gets banned for starting a flame war on the flood. He gets banned on the flood, but he can post on any other forums. But, if he does it again, he'll be banned off all forums.

Please stop complaining about the 'death of a loved one' it's my job. They probably deserved it anyways. Here's a warning, if you keep making pentagrams out of the neighbors livestock I will personally come to your house and kill everyone you love. Now leave me alone, I got to get back to work.

Hmmm this would help me but not bungie in general.

That defeats the purpose of being banned.

Also isn't this what warnings are for.

This only seems like a don't do it again kind of thing and if you do you get banned fully= Warning.

By that logic, I could get pulled over for speeding, get fined a ticket and shouldn't be allowed to speed on that specific road I was pulled over on. But driving around on anything else speeding is perfectly fine.

That's your argument.

If you're banned, you broke some rule of the public forums. Allowing a "grey area" isn't going to reduce the problem. In those instances, the moderators would just have to play "cat and mouse" to chase them around all the forums. Just don't break the rules and you don't have to worry about it.

The current system is fine. There are no problems with it. Why fix what's not broken?

I think you shouldn't be allowed to sign in at all when you're banned, or all the topics are troll faces and you can't see anything. I sure would have learned my lesson faster.

That's an ultra-ban.

If the victim gets banned on another forum after his previous ban, he gets banned off all forums.

I'm pretty sure everyone does we just don't feel like that would really do anything.

Like I said isn't that what a warning is for on here to let them now if you do trolling or anything against the rules again your banned?

In all of our opinions the system we have now is fine and the mods do a great job at warning and banning people when they see fit.

That's called a warning. With this system you're still giving users that "grey area" to play with. A ban is a ban, don't play with the electric fence at all, just avoid it.

"Oh hey, I just got banned in the Flood, time to move to the Reach forum."

Giving a warning is a fair substitute to tell a user "cool it" before something serious happens. I'm curious, why change it? The current banning system that includes warnings works great.

  • 05.08.2012 8:24 PM PDT

I got a better idea....let's leave the enforcing ideas to the Enforcers.

I was a finalist :P

The idea to what deems being ban worthy and its punishment should be as clear cut as possible. This idea would seem to cause even more discrepancy as to if a punishment suits the need of the violation.

This is because you'd have to change the punishment system; for example: What requirements must be made if one is to be publicly banned immediately rather than over a single forum ban? These scenarios would give more permutations as to what the punishment is which in turn would increase disagreement between members and moderators.

Key

Don't break the rules. Problem solved.

  • 05.08.2012 8:33 PM PDT

This only creates more work for the moderators, and gives users with ill intent more opportunities to be idiotic.
