I'm trying to become an '04, but it's not working too well."

T4R.

I know a few people live in San Diego County, according to the "Mapping World Domination" Thread.

Where would i post such a thread to attract said members to a Community Get Together in Southern California?

1. "recruitment" PM's are easily ignored, and easily found annoying
2. The Classifieds can be seen as a waste of time, as the target audience is so specific.
3. I am looking for members of The Bungie Community. I want to reach them in a place that is easily accessible, rather than trying to invite them via PM or trying to get them to join a Private Group.

Could this evolve into a LAN? Yes.
Could this just be a cool meet&greet between members of our awesome forum? Yes.

I am posting this inquiry as a topic, rather than a PM, because i want to see what the rest of you think.

Thanks!

You could do this in a group. But I think it should be fine here. I'm not sure though.

8/5/08 Bungie Favorites- NoEnd
7/1/09 Bungie Favorites- RECON Devil
9/9/09 Bungie Favorites- Champion
5/22/10 HaloCharts Favs- Prey

Hopefully a mod replies, because community meetups are always a good time.

I COULD do this in a private group, but i want to access a greater portion of the community, while still being specific.

Halo: CE Anniversary Achievement Idea
C-C-C-CANNON BREAKER!
Let Sgt. Johnson die on Halo.

The subtext under the forum banner DOES say "A gathering place for the Bungie community." I don't see why it shouldn't be allowed.

Then again, I'm not a mod. We'll have to wait and see what the standing is on this.

Don't be silly dmg community forum is for community stuff.

I don't see why not. I think the Community forum should be more encompassing: It should include not only discussion of the forums themselves and non-canon-related Bungie (i.e. Things that don't belong in the Bungie Universe forum but are still about bungie.), but also pick-up games and organized events for Bungie members and such.

The Classifieds just don't do the same job, not due to lack of activity but because of lack in design, especially with the rule that The Classifieds are supposed to be treated like the actual classifieds in a newspaper and threads are not meant to be responded to.

So yes. Virtual or real-world, I think the Community Forum is a great place for the organization of Bungie.net general community events and such.

For Carnage, Apply Within.

I have returned from the Untamed Lands. MOAP is dead.

OT: For SoCal, Frank N Sons would be an awesome location for a meet up.

I don't see why it wouldn't be ok to post it here. If worse comes to worst then you could always start up a private group specifically for "meet ups"

To Make Posts is Glorious

Some threads will get posts before others and it is the duty of the Leadership to ensure that posts are made that best suit the public welfare.

You could do this in a group.
Please direct me to the SoCal Bungie.net posters group, then.

The Bungie Community forum is for all topics directly related to the Bungie Community itself. Hooblah this is an appropriate place to discuss such matters.
I think it'd be pretty solid to set up Community meetups for certain regions. I wouldn't mind volunteering to be a point of contact for the DE/DC/MD area. Meeting members at PAX is good and all but not everyone can shell out the money to go to those events. Maybe a group can spawn from this idea but until then why not have a dedicated thread for it?

cars, girls & cake all day everyday

If it's something that will get me the -blam!- out of dinky Palmdale...I'm all for it! We've had PAX threads here, so why not?

As always, I'm down to train it to LA to meet some random strangers I barely talk to, dmg can you PM me for dates and what you plan to do? I tried talking to you about going to PAX together but you kept avoiding me >:[

Kind of a shot in the dark here, but I'd assume so.
"This is the community forum, but we're not letting you congregate IRL as a community."

A gathering place for the bungie community, but no IRL gathering.
