Considering Reach broke Halo 3s monetary sales record (thus, making more money), gamble successful.
Reach failed to hold H3's population for more than a month.
Gamble lost.
Also, got a link to your statement or are you just pulling the numbers from an area where the sun don,t shine.
Population =/= profit. Their gamble was successful. Reach might have only sold 2/3 what Halo 3 did, but it did in in half the time, and that means it did better. Significantly. And not just in the first week.
The long and the short of it is there are other games on the market worth playing now. When Halo 3 was in it's prime, there wasn't much else to do. Things change. You can rage and spit and blame bungie for what you don't like, but when it comes down to it, you're wrong. The market has spoken. Argumentative try-hards aren't a demographic worth appealing to. They just don't have the money. Just consider yourself lucky that MLG is still around to keep the competition going in a playlist here and there. Without them, all FPSs would be nothing but -blam!- zombies and RPG style character progression.
