Subject: Mail Call! Answer the letters Bungie wrote to you.

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

Join the Bungie Kids Podcast Group!

Listen to our podcast and listen to us talk about the latest Bungie news and Halo: Reach updates!

When I grow up, I want to be just like goofenhour.

1.)When you aren't playing Halo or dreaming about what we're concocting, what do you do for fun?Hmmm, well that's a good question. Let me think, uhhhhh, well I like to think about what's currently going on inside Bung- Oh wait, I forgot about the other part.

I like to produce electronic music and code in my spare time creating small flash games. I'm also majoring in Computer Science.

2.)What was your 2011 game of the year?Portal 2. Hands down.

3.)What's your most memorable story moment from any game you've played, ever, and why?Halo CE, the part when FoeHammer dies (11 year old spoiler) . I really liked FoeHammer throughout the entire story, and I was finding myself becoming more attached to her as the story unfolded. She would always come around and drop goodies for you and Cortana, like Warthogs or Marines. She'd always pick you up when you needed her to be there for you. And she died trying to be there.

It took an emotional toll when I first experienced it, it was a virtual punch to my stomach. My 9-year-old self shed many tears, and my 20-year-old self shed many more.

4.)Has playing a game narrative (story, characters, etc.) ever caused you to cry?See answer above.

5.)Reach deep now. Why do you play games? For the story that keeps you up till 5am and simply can not stop till the end is reached.

For the games that brings ultimate competition.

For the games that allow you to have fun and chill in the virtual world with your friends.

6.)What was your first game system, and what was your favorite game on that system?Sega Genesis. Sonic: The Hedgehog

7.)In your opinion, what's the best video game system of all time?Nintendo 64. It has the greatest library of amazing games on a single console.

8.)What was your favorite non-Halo Bungie game, and why? This is a really tough question considering I've played every single Bungie game (video related). Every Bungie game has it's amazing gameplay along with it's incredible attention to detail, and most of all, an extremely compelling story.

If I had to pick one, it would have to be Marathon. The game starts out simply knowing almost nothing other than you are on a ship that is in trouble, and an AI named Leela that needs your help. She also said something about this guy named Durandal, but he won't be causing you any trouble.

Marathon was one of the first games to include such a rich story, that was all done through text. Jason Jones did an incredible job of creating a video game with compelling story with the technology given at the time. Games today are easier to create amazing stories due to the fact now you experience the stories through your eyes, as well as your ears. But Jason was able to nail it through text.

What good books (besides the Halo novels) have you been reading lately that you would recommend?

Steve Jobs by Walter Isaacson. It has it's weaknesses, but it's a pretty awesome journey through an emerging market and the successes/failures that Steve had to go through before he really succeeded.

When you aren't playing Halo or dreaming about what we're concocting, what do you do for fun?

Coordinate amazing teams of amazing people to build amazing websites. And I play HoN/CS/SC2, drink good beer, and participate in this unpopular sport called soccer.

What was your 2011 game of the year?

I dunno, I wasn't too enthralled with anything over the past year. Maybe Crysis 2? It was pretty.

What's your most memorable story moment from any game you've played, ever, and why?

Playing Halo CE for the first time in a dark cold basement in a beach house at Nags Head, NC...shirtless. The Flood happened.

Has playing a game narrative (story, characters, etc.) ever caused you to cry?

Final Fantasy IX, don't tell. Oh, and Zelda Ocarina of Time when I finally beat it.

Why you gotta be like that?

Being a malcontent is what keeps me satisfied.

Choose one. Explain your choice.

Red pill. To be honest and boring, I like to take reality straight on and fix problems.

Kirk or Picard? And why?

Kirk...and this.

Reach deep now. Why do you play games?

For the story. I'm a huge fan of games that can (cliche, get ready) transport you to somewhere new. The kind of games that suck you in and change part of you.

Favorite Pen & Paper RPG, and why?

Not big into pen and paper RPG's. The closest I get is a massive game of Heroscape.

What was your first game system, and what was your favorite game on that system?

Metroid for the NES. I think I beat that game 4-5 times at least, then refused to allow anyone to use the game genie with it because I respected it too much. Mario 3 comes in a close second. Nothing like Tanooki Mario.

If we built the stadium, would you enter a real world Grifball tournament?

Only if you provide the equipment, and dying wasn't actually dying.

In your opinion, what's the best video game system of all time?

Dammit, I want to answer this but it's so hard. IMO probably the Playstation because of the breadth of content and it's survivability. To this day I'll still pull out the PS because games still look respectable on it. A strong argument could also be made for the gameboy in my humble opinion. That changed my views on gaming completely as a kid.

Who is your best and worst villain?

Best: Ganon. His voiceless evil fills me with righteous child-like anger to this day.
Worst: Necron from FFIX. In reality, any FF final boss.

Can you sing the theme to Sea Hunt without cheating on the Intertubes? (upload video proof - link it here)

idkwtf

What was your favorite non-Halo Bungie game, and why?

Oni. The game was ok, but I like it best because of all the stories I've read about the development and production.

What good books (besides the Halo novels) have you been reading lately that you would recommend?

Tuesdays With Morrie

What was your first game system, and what was your favorite game on that system?

My first system was the Nintendo 64, and my first game was Star Wars Pod Racer N64.

If we built the stadium, would you enter a real world Grifball tournament?

I'd enter a real world king of the hill tournament.

Canada isn't that important that it needs two of the same threads on page one.

When you aren't playing Halo or dreaming about what we're concocting, what do you do for fun?
Play video games.

What was your 2011 game of the year?
Farm Simulator 2012

What's your most memorable story moment from any game you've played, ever, and why?
Not sure if it's my most memorable, but it is pretty high up there, especially since I actually remembered to record it.
Vidya

Long story short, I went into MM BTB one day by myself, and had all 7 of my teammates quit. Down by 12, I come back and win by 1 with 10 seconds left in the game.

Why you gotta be like that?
What the -blam!- did you just -blam!- say about me, you little -blam!-? I'll have you know I graduated top of my class in the Navy Seals, and I've been involved in numerous secret raids on Al-Quaeda, and I have over 300 confirmed kills. I am trained in gorilla warfare and I'm the top sniper in the entire US armed forces. You are nothing to me but just another target. I will wipe you the -blam!- out with precision the likes of which has never been seen before on this Earth, mark my -blam!- words. You think you can get away with saying that -blam!- to me over the Internet? Think again, -blam!-. As we speak I am contacting my secret network of spies across the USA and your IP is being traced right now so you better prepare for the storm, maggot. The storm that wipes out the pathetic little thing you call your life. You're -blam!- dead, kid. I can be anywhere, anytime, and I can kill you in over seven hundred ways, and that's just with my bare hands. Not only am I extensively trained in unarmed combat, but I have access to the entire arsenal of the United States Marine Corps and I will use it to its full extent to wipe your miserable ass off the face of the continent, you little -blam!-. If only you could have known what unholy retribution your little "clever" comment was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have held your -blam!- tongue. But you couldn't, you didn't, and now you're paying the price, you goddamn idiot. I will -blam!- fury all over you and you will drown in it. You're -blam!- dead, kiddo.

Choose one. Explain your choice.
Blue. I picked Blue when it came to which Pokemon game my brother and I got, and I bought Sapphire before Ruby. Also, Blastoise is blue, and water beats fire.

Reach deep now. Why do you play games?
Because I lost control of my life at the age of 4.

Favorite Pen & Paper RPG, and why?
Paper Mario TTYD, because of it's everything. The game is flawless.

What was your first game system, and what was your favorite game on that system?
N64, and my favorite game on there is impossible to answer since there are so many great games on the system.

In your opinion, what's the best video game system of all time?
PC, although it's less of an opinion and more of a fact, but whatever.

What good books (besides the Halo novels) have you been reading lately that you would recommend?
What's a book?

When you aren't playing Halo or dreaming about what we're concocting, what do you do for fun?
I drive. Put the top down and drive.

What was your 2011 game of the year?
MW3
I don't play too many new games each year, but this has been the one for me thus far.

What's your most memorable story moment from any game you've played, ever, and why?
Probably when Master Chief said.'To finish this fight, Sir'. It was a very poignant moment and it let me know there would be a Halo 3.

Has playing a game narrative (story, characters, etc.) ever caused you to cry?
No

Why you gotta be like that?
Because I'm old and I can be.

Choose one. Explain your choice.
Blue. Everyone knows Dayquil just isn't as.... effective.

Kirk or Picard? And why?
Kirk. Gotta stay with the original.
Picard had a better ship, but come on. We're talking about James T. Kirk here.

Reach deep now. Why do you play games?
I encountered video games via arcades way back when and it just was my niche for entertainment.

Favorite Pen & Paper RPG, and why?
Never played anything like that.

What was your first game system, and what was your favorite game on that system?
Atari 2600
Space Invaders

If we built the stadium, would you enter a real world Grifball tournament?
No, I'm not stupid. Hammers hurt.

In your opinion, what's the best video game system of all time?
So far it has to be the 360. Multimedia, games, Live, apps,..

Who is your best and worst villain?
Are we talking in games, movies, in the news? I'll go with movies.
Best: Darth Vader in Star Wars: A New Hope
Worst: Doc Oc in Spiderman II. So poorly portrayed.

What was your favorite non-Halo Bungie game, and why?
Edit: I totally misread that.
I never played anything Bungie made non-Halo except Reach and I hated that.

Positive vibes.

I'm currently reading Dante's Inferno; it's a great book so far. It's translated into Old English, so it's easier to understand.

For fun, I enjoy spending time with friends and family members. I like to try new (usually dangerous) things. I suppose that's relative, though. I don't consider most what I try 'dangerous,' but my mom definitely does. Lol.

I don't really know. I haven't played a lot of new games.

I don't know. Haha. I don't really pay attention to the storyline.

No, I don't think I've ever cried. Haha. While playing a video game, at least.

I don't know.

Neither... I don't know. I haven't seen that movie in a while. I don't really understand what each pill does.

I have no idea who those people are.

No idea. To talk with people when it's raining or I can't go out.

I don't know what that is..

I think our first console was the Nintendo NES and I like Mario, haha.

Probably not. I'm not very good, lol.

I don't know. The Xbox 360, I guess...?

I'm not a big fan of any villains, lol...

Nope.

Alan Wake, maybe. Or Portal.

What was your favorite non-Halo Bungie game, and why?
As of late, it has been Battlefield 3. This is the only game where i can hop into a vehicle and recreate nostalgia comparable to driving someone in a Warthog.

You guys at bungie spoiled me. COD only cut it for so long. Ground combat is fun, but it gets stale without Vehicles thrown into the mix. I mean really, What would halo be without a Warthog? Tank? Banshee? It wouldn't have gotten to the status it's at now, which happens to be one of the greatest of ALL TIME.

But to add on, my favorite games are the ones that my friends play with me. TWP is multi-title. We run most everything.

Probably the first time that I played Halo 3. It was the moment that persuaded me to buy an Xbox 360.

Because they are an excellent means of killing time and communicating with friends. I also enjoy the feeling that I receive when I pwn n00bz.

That would be my Nintendo 64, and my favorite game on it would be Kirby and the Crystal Shards.

I really can't think of a "worst" villain.

Lavos from Chrono trigger (Best)

Bowser from Mario bros (Worst)

What was your favorite non-Halo Bungie game, and why?

Grandia - It had a lot of elements, the characters were cute in a 2D design, with a 3d background, cleverly fun and interesting, it had a good balance of adventure, danger and romance with out making it too cheesy and the music was extremly epic.

What was your 2011 game of the year?
Without a doubt, Skyrim. I'm a Bethesda fan. Skyrim is beautiful, full of adventure, and feels like another world.

Has playing a game narrative (story, characters, etc.) ever caused you to cry?
Not yet, but Mass Effect 3 was really close. If I was younger, I would have cried. It's setting the bar for video game storytelling... if you ask me. Wonderful.

Reach deep now. Why do you play games?
Adventures, beauty, challenges, friends. A video game can be art in one of it's purest forms; a video game can be a unique and well written story; a video game can be an advanced social network. Video games are the future of entertainment, they have so many directions to go, I feel like just saying "video game" is understating.

Not to mention that you aren't forced to watch commercials as you play them, they don't cost a whole lot, and they're always getting so much better.

If we built the stadium, would you enter a real world Grifball tournament?
As long as you can figure out the spawning.
