When the Chief and Arby displayed their alliance in Halo 3 because it was my first, true Halo emersion.

When you aren't playing Halo or dreaming about what we're concocting, what do you do for fun?

I'm a full time student, when I'm not in the classroom working on my integrative biology major and chemistry minor I split my time scuba diving for the Texas State Aquarium, surfing, playing for our university's club tennis team, and working on getting my applications ready for Vet school.

DeeJ's Challenge

What good books (besides the Halo novels) have you been reading lately that you would recommend?

Imagine by Jonah Lehrer. It's a great read if you need help understanding what makes creative minds tick. I'm on to you! I already know what your next project is because of this book!

When you aren't playing Halo or dreaming about what we're concocting, what do you do for fun?

I'm actually a cellist studying to become a history teacher. Because of this, I often find myself caught between more Bach or more boycotts. Today, I think I'll go with boycotts.

What was your 2011 game of the year?

KOTOR. I just started replaying it and I'm really surprised by the miraculous work done back then. That's something that nobody else in the industry really has...except for that one studio whose name always escapes me. You know, that one with the Ginger and his slave and the terrifyingly huge body guard. Yeah?

What's your most memorable story moment from any game you've played, ever, and why?

"Then listen up! The Chief is gonna jump in this tank, roll across the bridge, and blow up any inhuman son-of-a-blam! dumb enough to get between him and the Prophet of Regret! Pull yourself together, 'cause you're goin with him!" Yes! Let me get my seat cushion for the side of the tank!

Has playing a game narrative (story, characters, etc.) ever caused you to cry?

Not visibly but when I make a girl a promise, I intend to keep it.

Why you gotta be like that?

I don't have to be but I choose to be. That's why I'm the very best. Here, you can try singing this. That's how I got started!

Choose one. Explain your choice.

I'm sorry. I don't take candy from strangers...creep!

Kirk or Picard? And why?

Picard. He's the only person in the universe to defy the "Red Shirt Rule." If Kirk put on a red shirt, he would have died instantly. Besides...

Reach deep now. Why do you play games?

I play Monopoly so I can be the banker and cheat my way to bankrupting my friends and family.

Favorite Pen & Paper RPG, and why?

Star Wars Saga Edition by Wizards of the Coast. No reason is really necessary.

What was your first game system, and what was your favorite game on that system?

I started on the NES and the original favorite was Duck Hunt. I mean, what 4-year old didn't love having an orange gun handed to them after their dad, for some odd reason, blew really hard into the bottom of the game?

If we built the stadium, would you enter a real world Grifball tournament?

If the ability to respawn was also created and I got to keep the armor, yes. If not, can I have season tickets?

In your opinion, what's the best video game system of all time?

Gameboy Color. By being the first handheld that circulated my school, it really allowed you to take the fun with you on the go. In my opinion, all other handhelds seem to never innovate as much as that first initial jump.

Who is your best and worst villain?

Best: Joker from Arkham Asylum and City (he's a part of us all)
Worst: Tartarus from Halo 2 but only on Legendary (have you tried that solo?!?!)

Can you sing the theme to Sea Hunt without cheating on the Intertubes? (upload video proof - link it here)

No but I sang this today...WARNING: Math content!

What was your favorite non-Halo Bungie game, and why?

Pimps in Space. I know it's not out yet (or even developed) but I'm just telling you, it will be bigger than Halo ever was.

Just to clear all this up, I'm from the future. All those people who said it wasn't possible to go backwards were wrong...so wrong.

Enjoy the pizza slice urk saved for you DeeJ!

Games, friends, memories

What good books (besides the Halo novels) have you been reading lately that you would recommend?

I'm not much of a reader, but the only two series I've read recently are Halo novels ;) an The Hunger Games Trilogy. If for some reason you haven't read those yet, do so. AMAZING books.

When you aren't playing Halo or dreaming about what we're concocting, what do you do for fun?

School, games, work, tv, games. That is a daily activity routine for me. I love it =)

What was your 2011 game of the year?

Probably Gears 3. 2011 was kinda an off year for games IMO. Really excited for what this year brings!

What's your most memorable story moment from any game you've played, ever, and why?

I have two memorable gaming story moments.

1) The introduction of the flood in CE. Freaked me the f' out!
It was done so amazingly creepy, it kept me from Halo for a while (I was like 11...)
2) Fighting the Berserker on the train in the final Act. My friend and I literally were stuck on it for probably around an hour because we didn't realize we had to detach the train. We thought we had to kill it. So for that hour, all we heard was Dom saying "Are you kidding me?!?!? Berserker!!!!!". It was terribly amazing.

Has playing a game narrative (story, characters, etc.) ever caused you to cry?

Yes and no. Really the only time I came unbelievably close was when Dom died in Gears 3. I had tears in my eyes, but they didn't come out. However, I was slightly spoiled on that moment about a week before. So I feel if I went into it not knowing anything, tears would have fell.

Why you gotta be like that?

Umad, bro?

Choose one. Explain your choice.

I choose the red one if, and only if, it is watermelon flavored. If it is any other flavor, then I choose the blue.
(Yes, I do know that that is irrelevant to what the picture actually is.)

Kirk or Picard? And why?

I'll be very honest and say I have no idea who these guys are. Seeing as I honestly have no idea what this question is about, I choose Picard. I choose him because who the f' else has the name Picard?

(After reading other posts, I realize it's Star Trek. Never watched it, so that validates my answer.)

Reach deep now. Why do you play games?

Lets be very honest, shall we. I am not the most popular guy around. I am a people person, however, I am somewhat a loner. Very few friends to speak of. So, all of my friends are online. That's what keeps me coming back. I honestly don't know if I'd still be gaming if it wasn't for the friends I've made online.

One other reason, my life is a little...irregular. Reasons I don't really want to go into on the interwebs. So games are sort of my escape from all of that. It allows me to just leave all that behind.

Favorite Pen & Paper RPG, and why?

I do believe this is a little too old-school for my liking (I'm 19?). Either it is a super old thing, or I've just never heard of it. Regardless, I have no idea seeing as I don't know any games that fit in the category.

What was your first game system, and what was your favorite game on that system?

The original Xbox was my 1st ever system. My favorite game for it was Halo 2. Sooooooo many memories were left on that game. However, if you guys want us to stray from Halo titles, then my answer is Star Wars Battlefront 2. AMAZING game. So addicting.

If we built the stadium, would you enter a real world Grifball tournament?

Seeing as I have been an avid grifballer for around 2 and a half years, and have been a member of GrifballHub's Good Games League (and the AGLA) for just as long, my answer is YES! Talk to the fine people at the Hub and make this happen please!

In your opinion, what's the best video game system of all time?

Xbox 360. I am an Xbox fanboy. Nothing else will do for me.

Who is your best and worst villain?

I'm not too big on the whole super hero/villain scene. So with my lack of knowledge, my best villain is probably the Joker (predictable much?) and my worst villain is The Penguin. Just doesn't make much sense to me...a penguin...

Can you sing the theme to Sea Hunt without cheating on the Intertubes? (upload video proof - link it here)

No.

What was your favorite non-Halo Bungie game, and why?

One game that always finds a way back to me is Phantasy Star Universe. The demo was so addicting (not the pronz), and the real game is that much more fun. However, I'd have to give my actual favorite game (more like series) to Gears. aside from Gears 2, some of the most fun games I've played. The storyline never disappointed, which in my opinion, games are lacking these days.

What good books (besides the Halo novels) have you been reading lately that you would recommend?
I haven't been reading that much lately, but I would recommend Milkweed and To Kill A Mockingbird

When you aren't playing Halo or dreaming about what we're concocting, what do you do for fun?
Either playing Battlefield 3, Minecraft, or chilling with my friends.

What was your 2011 game of the year?

Hmm, tough call. I'd say Batman Arkham City.

What's your most memorable story moment from any game you've played, ever, and why?

In Homefront when you come home expecting to return to your beautiful, life filled hide out, and find out everyone has been killed, and the place destroyed.

Has playing a game narrative (story, characters, etc.) ever caused you to cry?
Nope.avi

Why you gotta be like that?
Elaborate, you veil fiend!

Choose one. Explain your choice.

Red, because everyone knows red jelly beans are way better than blue ones.

Kirk or Picard? And why?
Picard. Because Batman.

Reach deep now. Why do you play games?

For entertainment and fun with my friends.

Favorite Pen & Paper RPG, and why?
Tic-Tac-Toe

What was your first game system, and what was your favorite game on that system?
Gameboy (Color?), I think it was a Tarzan game.

If we built the stadium, would you enter a real world Grifball tournament?
Depends, do i get to hit Griff?

In your opinion, what's the best video game system of all time?
Original Xbox, it opened up a world of games.

Who is your best and worst villain?
Best Villain would be Bowser. Every time Mario saves Peach, Bowser manages to capture her again and again, and laughs about it too. Not to mention he owns a seemingly endless supply of minions and controls a lot of land too.

Worst villain is Raditz. "Oh Know, a full nelson? -blam!- what am I gonna do now!"

Can you sing the theme to Sea Hunt without cheating on the Intertubes? (upload video proof - link it here)
What's Sea Hunt?

What was your favorite non-Halo Bungie game, and why?
Halo: Reach(jkjk). I think Marathon Durandal was pretty fun.

One does not choose a destiny, his destiny is bestowed, shaped and formed, from the soul.

1. A book I would recommend is The Boy Who Dared, it's a story about a kid in -blam!- Germany who tried to publish true facts about the war through fliers he would put around his town. It's really good in my opinion.

2. What I do for fun is I play hockey. Been playing for 10 years straight and am pretty good at it. I also like to write novels while listening to a song for inspiration. My record so far is when I listened to cold play's song paradise I wrote 10 pages in the time it took to play it twice. I'm also in progress of finishing my first full book which I'm 146 pages into. If this gets chosen I'll gladly give the community insight on it

3. My game of the year for 2011 was BF3. The graphics really amazed me on the xbox and I would've gotten it on the computer if I had a gaming computer. It brings team work, solid gameplay, an ok story, awesome online and co-op missions. The audio and the visuals sucks you into the game sometimes I would catch myself ducking whenever I went prone at the sight of a tank.

4. My most memorable moment ever from a video game was in Halo 2 when chief flies out of the station in the first mission with the bomb and blows up the carrier. Halo 2 was the first halo I played all the way through and when chief said "I wont" and he flew out I branded him the ultimate BA. It was hard though because I have a tie with a moment from Brothers in Arms: Hells Highway but I already answered this question.

5. I've never cried from a game but a games narrative has made me sad and angry. The final two missions and Brothers in Arms: Hells Highway Takes the lives of many key characters and injures two main characters. That game has arguably one of the best stories I've played through. I became angry from the ending of the awesome game LA Noire. If you played the whole game loving it then you were probably mad to at the ending. Not going to elaborate just because I don't want to spoil anyone.

6. Why you gotta ask question on why I gotta be like me, why you gotta be so nosy?

7. I would take the blue pill. The matrix is a scary place and I'd rather not intrude in Samuel L Jackaons business.

8. Kirk, beam me up Scotty

9. Because I like immersing myself into a story that allows me to both live out the story and experience everything that happens and just for the plan reason because it's fun.

10. None I'm not one to dive into the deep roots of RPGs. I'll stick with skyrim and mass effect.

11. My first game system would be the Nintendo 64 and my favorite game was Mario cart. I didn't really get into gaming until the PS2 and my favorite game on that was Battlefront 2. One of the best games ever.

12. If I would get payed, there was one by me and I didn't die from playing it sure. Why wouldn't you?

13. The Xbox 360 truly is the best. The Xbox 360 is the new PS2. It brings stunning graphics, awesome games, awesome exclusives though ps3 has some good ones. In bring more to the table then gaming. In my opinion it doesn't need a replacement for another 2-3 years. Computer and PS3 lovers can hate all they want. Haters ganna hate

When you aren't playing Halo or dreaming about what we're concocting, what do you do for fun?
I dream about the games I could possibly concoct in the future.

What was your 2011 game of the year?Dark Souls. Easily. The gameplay is super deep and immersive, the visuals are great, and the encounters are as epic as they are memorable. I only wish the game was longer or a little more expansive, but for what it's worth, it easily beat all the other games that came out in 2011.

What's your most memorable story moment from any game you've played, ever, and why?It has little to do with Story, but I very much enjoyed the setting of the final boss of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. You just barely escaped out of a collapsing tower with our life. There is Rubble everywhere. But it's finally over, you've one. Suddenly, a wall of fire springs up, trapping you from leaving as Ganondorf bursts out from underneath the rubble and transforms into a horrific monster! You find yourself completely outmatched by his sudden appearance and within the first few seconds he knocks the Master Sword out of your hands, leaving you completely defenseless before a formidable foe that you can't even see clearly save for when he is lit up from the lightning that cracks down in the background. But Navi comes up and is like "We've come too far! He's not holding us back any longer, let's finish this!" and I'm like "HELL YEAH!"

Has playing a game narrative (story, characters, etc.) ever caused you to cry?I don't ever remember crying from a game, but I have been instilled with a profound sense of Melancholy on many an occasion. The two most recent occasions where I have felt this in memory were the Lone Wolf mission of Halo Reach and the corruption and subsequent death of Solaire of Astora in Dark Souls.

Reach deep now. Why do you play games? There is a huge mountain right over there. Why would I not scale it and claim dominance over it? Especially if the mountain has beautiful and memorable vistas that I can share and enjoy with my friends as we all fight our way to the top.

Favorite Pen & Paper RPG, and why?Dungeons and Dragons, but to be fair I haven't played many others. I enjoy being a wizard, though I think the next time I get involved in a campaign I'll try being a thief. Both classes can cause all sorts of creative shenanigans that can make combat much more interesting.

What was your first game system, and what was your favorite game on that system? My first game system was the Super Nintendo, and my favorite game on that system would easily have to be Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy Kong's Quest. It has solid gameplay, interesting evolution in mechanics, a wide variety of enemies and environments, it really is a classic game that borrowed well from it's predecessor.

If we built the stadium, would you enter a real world Grifball tournament?Presuming that you built it somewhere in the Seattle area I'd be there in a heartbeat. Even if I wasn't any good, the sheer ludicrousness of the idea would draw me into the midst of it.

In your opinion, what's the best video game system of all time?I think the Gamecube was my favorite console. That cheerful little jingle that plays during the startup screen, and the background music that played on the options screen where you could change the system time and mess with your memory cards... it really puts the current gen's pre-game spaces to shame. The system itself had many of my favorite games, it makes me very sad that my personal Gamecube burned out long ago.

What was your 2011 game of the year?
Deus Ex: Human Revolution, I'd heard good things but I wasn't expecting such a fun single player story. I've never seen such care into hidden items and so many ways to get around/through enemies. The storyline, the decision making that wasn't just in the conversation options, the art direction and the soundtrack was just beautiful. The first game I completed where the first thing I wanted to do was play it again.

Why you gotta be like that?
Baby, I was born this way.

Reach deep now. Why do you play games?
It can't be just one reason for anyone, there's so much there you don't get with with other media. Sometimes it's nice being part of a big group of friends chilling out beating that next wave of enemies, or kicking worldwide ass online. That's not even counting the opportunities games give you witness great stories decided by you, the player. All of it is a rewarding experience.

If we built the stadium, would you enter a real world Grifball tournament?
Bungie, if you built the stadium. I'd honestly go up against Jerome in head-to-head grifball. I don't care how suicidal it may be, we all know it would be glorious.

In answer to Marty's questions. I can't sing a thing, let alone something called 'Sea Hunt.'

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

NO

Sea Hunt is a VERY, VERY, VERY old show about a Scuba diver who goes on various adventures from helping a pilot trapped in a Jet plane 50 feet underwater to collecting samples of Marine plants in a remote coral reef.

I like watching it as I am really into scuba diving.

What's your most memorable story moment from any game you've played, ever, and why?

When i was a young lad i played a new game call halo, being young and not very good at video games at the time it took me ages beat the game. I spent countless hours just wondering around the second mission when you first land on halo checking behind every rock and tree.

The most memorable moment was the mission when you first meat the flood (the library). When i first whent into the library i was very scared of these new zombie like things know as the flood. Around every corner there would be blood splattered all over and sounds of distress. Witch kept me engaged in the game after beeting it i got addicted to video games....

Thanks bungie for providing this experience.

Choose one. Explain your choice.

I would take both to see what kind of crazy -blam!- happened.

In your opinion, what's the best video game system of all time?

Best game system of all time was the Dreamcast. Reason? Simple.
Phantasy Star Online.
One of the first games with online multiplayer (over dial-up meh) but also one of the first RPG's I have ever played. The gameplay was awesome and the teamwork needed was insane. I think I dumped 200 hours in that game with my friends when I was younger just getting item drops and perfecting my armor ratings.

Man I miss that game.

What good books (besides the Halo novels) have you been reading lately that you would recommend?

The most recent book I read was an instruction manual and I don't reccomend that to anyone. I built that cabnet on my own and I even had left over parts!

When you aren't playing Halo or dreaming about what we're concocting, what do you do for fun?

There are other things to do in life besides playing Halo and lurk on B.net..?

What was your 2011 game of the year?

Reach. I liked the level with the guns and aliens.

What's your most memorable story moment from any game you've played, ever, and why?

Conker's Bad Fur Day. A tale epic bravery and heroism..

Has playing a game narrative (story, characters, etc.) ever caused you to cry?

See above.

Why you gotta be like that?

Because my McMuffin didn't have enough sugar in it. It was hardly a muffin let alone a Mc.

Choose one. Explain your choice.

I chose both. Why? You don't ask about my problems.

Kirk or Picard? And why?

Commander Shepard.

Reach deep now. Why do you play games?

*Serious answer time* Because I love the stories that games tell. They let me escape from reality for a small moment.

Favorite Pen & Paper RPG, and why?

Paper Mario.

What was your first game system, and what was your favorite game on that system?

N64 with Ocarina of Time and Mario Kart. My mom and Dad brought me up right.

If we built the stadium, would you enter a real world Grifball tournament?

I am the greatest Grifball player ever. That's a big 10/4 over.

In your opinion, what's the best video game system of all time?

I would say the 360 but the N64 has so many more memories.

Who is your best and worst villain?

Best: My mother
Worst: My mother
Love ya mom.
