Subject: How did the flood survive 100,00 years

I know its in the book, but i cant remember how the flood survibed for all those ears. this is related to halo 3 for i thought about the possibility of a Flood Forerunner comabt forms. I mean, forerunners had to fall prey to infectious flood while shipping them over to the halos... so why havent we seen any running around? did they die of starvation?

cuz this hypothesis can easily be put to death if flood die of starvation since hose 100,00 years since last detonation. then again, if they do starve, wouldnt they have died by now. if not by hunger then, then by old age?

i need answers plz

yes, but soem had to been kill trying to transport the flood to the halos. If they could do taht without casualties, why would they need to activate the halos?

Because the flood was possibly spreading by way of infecting another race, not the forerunners...

And yes. I understand how pathetic that is, but nobody reads these things anyway... right?

Well, according to all the "Forunners = Humans" theories I've been reading. The Forunner combat form is the same as the human one!

**Note: This is not necesarily the views of the author, only a short passage concuring with most of the theories posted on this forum.

Maybe the Combat forms begin to break down after a certain amount of time. Some flood forms were kept alive for further study.

I still think there may be another race besides the flood or the forerunner that the flood was using as a vector to spread...

In the book, the flood forms would all decompose, even when they were still "Alive", and even faster once they were really dead...

The Flood can use any host with sufficient bio-mass so there probably were many other spiecies being used.

Forerunner combat forms wouldn't wear current UNSC armor and use UNSC weapons.

"You have been measured, you have been weighed: And you have been found lacking."

The flood combat forms eventually will decompose. The bodies atleast. After that the infection form abandons the ruined host and walks off like nothing happened. So there is logical reason why there are no flood forms
The infection forms can apparently last 100,000 years without a hitch.

Exactly, which could be another reason why there are no forerunner combat forms... the monitor mentions a suit that is at least 6 times better than the master chief's current armor, which could mean that the flood wouldn't be able to infect the forerunner because they were using such effective armor...

It is a blurred line that lies at the edge of Godhood and Insanity. Guess which side of it I am on.

The real enemy in Gears of War.

The legend of Croatoan

I like how every one failed to point out that at the end of a flood's life they turn into the carrier form and explode. So if there were Forerunner flood they would have most likely died from over the span of 100,000 years.

Well in the level 343 Guilty Spark. There was way more many UNSC Marines than you would need or told in the book. So it's possible some of the Marines where Forerunners.

You might want to re-read them again or read some analysis books about the carrier form. I think its in the Halo 2 stratagy guide.
