Subject: Should ban history be cleared with the new hawtness?

Roll the dice, try again.

So the new hawtness is on the uprise for Bungie.net. Should your ban history be cleansed?

You know, like a new fresh start?

What does ban history actually affect? (Other than titles, which are meaningless). I don't really see a point.

  • 05.09.2012 2:55 PM PDT

I think people with the Exalted Prefix that are ashamed of their past <2010 definitely should. Totally not speaking from personal experience there....

(On a serious note, my answer is Yes. That "Most Recent Moderation History" makes me facepalm every time.)

Basically, I make the best topics ever.

Feedback!
Duardo: This thread is locked for being stupid.
cortana 5 : It's perpetually my time of the month and I'm just grouchy.
Foman: I see absolutely no reason, either theoretical or practical, that this is not a superb idea. Excellent work, my friend.

No, I'm proud of my bans. And why would I want a fresh start?

Yes and no

Yes because it would be awesome to have a clean start, and no because we (everybody who has ever been banned) deserved the ban.

There are many powers in the world, for good or for evil. Some are greater than I am. Against some I have not yet been measured. But my time is coming.

I'd be fine with this with one caveat. Accounts need to have more value. If we start over, your account needs to be something you don't want to lose.

@spawn031

"So much of what we do is ephemeral and quickly forgotten, even by ourselves, so it's gratifying to have something you have done linger in people's memories." John Williams

I'm indifferent about it.

On one hand, I'm sure there are many folks that would like their history cleared because of title, reputation etc. On the other, there are folks that may have a title that they strived for, example - anyone with an exalted prefix, is something that is actually quite difficult to obtain (of course just go hide in a private group for 3 years).

Like Rich and many others have been saying, accounts need to have more value to them. If there is no value in accounts, then what is stopping people from listening to the rules? Sure, personal online reputation is there, but erasing a ban history is either going an extreme in either direction. Like I said, I'm still indifferent about it.

Oh yeah, since somebody does not believe what YOU believe; that makes us vapid...
I cannot grasp that what you call "Something happened to nothing, and that nothing became something, and it was smaller than than a period."

No, this isn't baptism, it is Bungie.net

edit that sentence above if it is against the rules.

But seriously, that would be a huge middle finger to People with Mythic titles.
Some members with Mythic titles have been warned and/or banned.

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

I think there needs to be more incentive to have an account here and not make an alt. I do wish I could have a clean slate and I think that starting over would be a good change.

As much as I would love my record wiped clean of a couple embarrassments, I don't think Bungie would be kind enough to give us all a fresh start.

There's a word for what I am, but I can't pronounce it.

BFA, CCS - olde and bony & one minute musings.

To my understanding ban/warning priors is of resource to judgment calls from moderators, and on that basis, keeping that user info seems more useful than taking it away.

Your account's history isn't an open book. If anyone here is embarrassed enough to want a clean tray, why not convert the shame into a lesson learned and move on? Or is this purely about title impact?
