Ich bin Reptar!

Hello, I've been looking around for things to do for my career that include art. I see that Bungie is accepting applications for a Concept Artist and I am very interested. Let's start from the beginning though. If I aim to make this my career job, what would be a good college that could help me achieve this position? Are there any specific colleges that Bungie seems to like most? I am a very good artist and would like to continue with art as my major. I just ask for some advice to be suit for the job of a Bungie Concept Artist. All help is beneficial and will be taken into thought.

Also, if this is the wrong forum, mods, please lock and direct me to the right one.
Thank you.

I don't know very much myself but scroll through this thread.

There are some helpful posts made by Ninjas and Employees.

EDIT: This could also help a bit.

You know what would really work, is if you went to an employee directly. If you show initiative, and take charge of the situation, work to start a conversation on the topic with someone at Bungie, then you might get a better answer that way, as well as getting a head start on building a relationship with someone at Bungie.

It's a competitive field, I'm sure, so make yourself a strong figure, take charge, and you will get the answers you want.

Thanks but those threads were more for help on programming. I want to do art.

Thanks for the advice. I just thought that I would get more answers by doing this than asking an employee and waiting for an answer. Any idea on which employee I should ask?

To sum up what edableshoe is saying above, interrogate a Bungie employee until you get the answers you want. Take out anyone who has applied for the same position.

I would look up the names of new employees, and maybe a few who are already working there as concept artist. That should do it for you. Don't be disheartened if they don't reply, just keep pushing till you get something, but don't over do it. If you don't get anything, just go where you want for college. Any education is a good education. It's what you DO with that education that will help you get a job at Bungie.

On the Breaking In section of B.net, I found one Concept Artist. I've looked into the college he mentioned. So far it looks pretty good. And for the college, I want a college that can teach me and train me in art, not a college that just teaches the basic subjects and nothing else. But I will definitely continue searching and looking up current Concept Artists for Bungie.

Since you're going into the field of Arts, such as me (Music) I'd recommend a liberal arts school. Liberal Arts degrees give you a well rounded student, and that's really gonna benefit you in the world, because our field is very competitive. Also, since you'll be doing art, I'd recommend a study abroad too, that will really show you the world in its beauty, and will develop you as an artist.

Good luck, bro, I'm sure you'll get exactly what you want. :3

Especially with something like art, your portfolio well matter far more than what college you went to or what degree you have. I suggest you start making some of your own concept art and begin building up your portfolio.

That can apply to many fields, although I had a friend who was a talented artist that said he learned a lot from college so that assumption shouldn't really be made.

However, a diploma is usually for certification rather than a talent check.

I think it doesn't matter what college you take, but that you love what you do and the dedication you put in your work, it doesn't really matter what kind of college you pick, public or private, as long as you love to do what you do, that's what matters and what will make you be better than the rest.

The college does matter because there is so much about art I don't know and I want to be taught different techniques and learn how to be better. I do agree though that the job is based mostly on how good someone's art is.

I want direct answers to my questions, not indirect answers. That's why I made this topic. So either stay on topic or get out.

Didn't mean it to be taken the wrong way, but I have seen the same questions many times, so you would find even more responses (from employees as well) looking at past threads.
