Sorry if this has been posted before.

I know alot of people wanted this in halo 2... I think that would be really cool... having a multiplayer map thats all water.... two bases at either end of the map and then a huge lake in between with some islands in it... have alot of gun boats and water craft, along with ghosts, banshees and whatnot. this would be cool. [not my orig. idea]

Hell, some1 said that they could have a new sidewinder except all melted down - they could make the new sidewinder a water level with all the ground ice converted into a lake with water craft and the cliffs and bases staying the same.

I think this would be sweet, what u guys think? Post your ideas and thoughts on this!

Well it would be pritty sweet. But Bungie would have to work something out so if for any reason "abandin ship" were to occur we would sink to our doom. But make it so we could swim around. Which might be difficult since a SPARTAN weighs about a half ton.

I think you shouldnt be able to get out of the boat once its in deep water, and if the boat dies, so do you. That way they can make the boats powerful - but it will keep them balanced, cuz u cant bail out like u do in a banshee when u see a rocket comin towards u.

Just imagine u have a transport boat with two .50 cal machine guns on it... so powerful and u r killing so many people with ur team... but then u get near the enemies base and their tank shoots you out of the water and you hear the announcer say - "killtacular!"

i don't see why not, halo and halo 2 both have good veihicle combat on land and there has alway's been water around.
If this happens the chief/arbiter should be able to swim under water because he wont drown anyway

you seem to be missing the obvious here... in the great journey on halo 2, when you get to the building that houses the activation site, you can walk in the water. you go at the same speed admittedly, but you're shielded from above as nothing can see you. A little programming here and there, and some underwater sand bumb mapping, after throwing a few fish in as well and algae, and it would make a frickin' awesome map! Oh, and of course, you surond the lake entirely, that way people fight out of ther lake and in, and on boats.

Well the problem is, how come Master Chief can't float in water? In Halo, when you jump into the water, you can't bring yourself up to the surface. Strange.

For the love of god... NO!!!

But what it should have is a giant 50ft Mech, shaped like a grunt. Now THAT would rock.

jk :p

Seriously though, no underwater Halo, please!

You face an opponent who has never known defeat, who laughs in foreign tongues at your efforts to survive. This is Reply suicide.

I'm pretty sure boats won't stay up with half a ton sitting in them... They'd sink as if they were made from paper....

And what do you need combat on WATER for? You don't.

You have Dropships, Longsword Fighters, Seraphs...

I'm pretty sure an arial insertion onto a beach would go a LOT better than an amphibious assault.

Every game I've ever played to do with war throws boats in... And to be honest, boats take AWAY from gameplay. I mean... they end up being used to simply traverse from one spot to the next as a kind of shortcut... And if not for that, they end up simply fighting OTHER boats in the water. They serve no purpose other than that. It irritates me and upsets me.

Boats can't go on land... A map completely made of water would be dumb... Honestly... Water is FEATURELESS... You'd have to wander in your boat for quite a while before actually FINDING anyone...

A boat in Halo would be wasted content. Especially when a REALLY epic battle would be in space or in the air. Think about using Longsword fighters in a multiplayer map. That idea alone blows the boats out of the water. Ha ha.

The only way I could see naval combat as being put into the game... Is if we were on some huge carrier or something and were fighting all along it. And maybe using boats to traverse from one end of the ship quickly. That's the only way I could see doing it...

I think it would be awesome, shoot a Grunt off your boat and watch him zoom and spin through a cloud of bubbles in the water as methane leaks out of his breath mask. Hahaha. Thats fun just to think about.

I dont know if that has already been posted, because, come on, who wouldnt love to see that?!

I don't know how this would even be possible since it's clear from Halo 2 that the chief's suit cannot withstand contact with water...

Really? So what holds up aircraft carriers? Magic?

Are you saying that MC should be able to drive an aircraft carrier? Take a normal inflatable boat and put four spartans in it, thats two tons are you saying that would float.

As much as I like the idea, it is slightly unrealistic. The ONLY way I could see boats put into Halo 3 were for amphibious assaults, and as somebody already mentioned that would probably go to hell compared to an air assault by pelicans. And again, as stated earlier, Master Chief ways nearly half a ton, and he cant swim.

I'd make it more of an island chain with land on part of the map. The land blocks you from going in a strait line to the enemy base, kind like a peninsula. So you can land on island if you have to. (damaged boat and what not) You can use ghosts on water. The light transport boats would be very fast and could dodge heavy boat 'shells'. The heavy boats are like tanks, so no scorpions in the map. You have a short trip to the bases so out of vehicle combat is still very common. This way it isn't mostly boat map, its mostly fighting on islands, keeping to the original halo feel.
