I'm pretty sure boats won't stay up with half a ton sitting in them... They'd sink as if they were made from paper....

Really? So what holds up aircraft carriers? Magic?

Are you saying that MC should be able to drive an aircraft carrier? Take a normal inflatable boat and put four spartans in it, thats two tons are you saying that would float.

Why the hell would MC jump into an inflatable boat? In fact why would there even be inflatable boats in 2552?

Well he is not going to be assaulting a beach in a aircraft carrier is he. So its going to be quite small. An inflatable assault boat sounds good to me. And then it would sink.

There's better small boats than inflatable garbage ones. Kthxbai.

Any small bout would sink if you pout two tons in it. Take a toy boat pout two kilograms in it then see if it floats. Why would he not just get a lift from a pelican?

You need one like the small coast gaurd boats, their tough.

Not water-based but there should be water physics etc. and parts where you need to march through water or swampy areas, and I expect to slow down a bit.

I am sure by 2552 they will be able to make boats that can handle two tons.

ok, what about this.... a level that is an island, like relic, except make it much larger, with two bases, and there would be like a large river running through it , directly from one base to another there would be bridges and stuff across the river and there would be alot of land for normal combat, and there could be gun emplacements along the river and on each of the bases. You would also be able to use the boats to go around the island.

idk. I see ur point of it ruining the game but i think if bungie does it properly it could be really really cool.

that would be cool. since 2 thirds of the earth is water makes sense to me.

Quick as a razor, sharp as a bullet.

would be good if done well (what in halo isn't?)

No. That would be too SOCOM 3 Navy Seals. Plus, since the MC has his armor on he can just walk under the water and come up on the enemy base from behind. Through the reeds if you will. I would just Havok TacNuke that place.
But for those of your that like that sort of thing, go for it. Whatever makes you happy.

Nope, it would be to unrealistic to have underwater combat. The MC ways more than a ton in his armor. Something like that would have a hard time swimming let alone fighting under water.

It would be cool to fight on the water though, like in a boat. Something like the boat that bungie had in the extra content from the Halo DVD.

how about hover boats? with a mac gun on the back like the curent warthog but it can travel over water as well. you should have the same amount of health as a regular hog but with only a driver and a gunner alowd in this would make more sence. since you can make an escape or assult from a more variaty of places opening a new dimension while not ruining the game like a flag guy geting in the boat and floating out to the middle of no where sitting with the flag keeping it contested. It definately could work and be fun, but like anything in Halo in order for it to truly be worthy it must allow for fun, balanced game play. So long as the water/boat based combat can be balanced in some way or another to keep a good pace and have good mechanics, it probably would rock.

Im not talking about underwater combat. I think if you go into water above ur head, you should die.
Alot of u might be like "what the hell, why would the cheif die in water?" well he wouldnt... but think of how much it would suck to be in a huge water map and have ur boat explode and be at the bottom of the lake and cant see anything more than 10 feet away and now u have to find a way back to land.

thats why cheif dies when he lands in water.

An inflatable boat sounds good to you? u just said it would sink. You dont make any sense.

OBVIOUSLY the boat would not be inflatable... i mean how many inflatable boats do you see with .50 calibur machine guns on them?

And just cuz the boat is small doesnt mean it has to be inflatable. At the present age we have really really small boats (jetskis), what make u think in 500 years we wont?

Gauss Cannon Ownage

I will, however, confirm that the Assault Rifle fires projectiles. At the moment, at least. We might just end up turning it into a melee-only weapon.

That was a joke.

I think That they could have it where he sinks to the bottem but he has like 30 seconds to try to run onto land before he drownds...

three shot has it right. i practically live on the water, and a small 21 ft boat weighs about 2/3 of a ton, if not more. ever heard of a Boston Whaler? theyre "unsinkable" and thats almost entirely true, everyone remembers that concept drawing of a boat back when halo 2 was comin out? cause it sure as hell resembles a Whaler....

MC could definitely drive a small boat, and there should be gunboats in Halo 3, but no swimming. maybe ledge grabbing and wading though.

Three Shot has it right. MC can drive a regular boat cause a regular boat weighs more than a half ton itself. I practically live on water, trust me. MC could easily drive a bost-and if anyone out here has heard of a Boston Whaler, then you know what I mean.
