I don't post very much, so when I do I like to do it in one big chunk to get it all over and done with.

Is this so bad compared to people who post new threads consistently every day?

If the thread limit per day is seven, should a person be encouraged to (or at least not discouraged from) posting as many threads as they want/can?

Is this not the point of the forums?

Yax is a shining beacon in these dark times. You should all strive to be more like Yax.

I always thought 7 was a ridiculous choice. The limit should really be 1 per forum.

Fixed that for you.

I could say the same about the spam filter that restricts members from posting too often after previosly posting. But the limitation might just be there to regulate order, and to prevent things like the "shiska is a pegboy" incident from happening.

Oh wow... I think I've just figured it out.

The thread limit is there for the forums as much as it is for yourself.

I have another thread I want to post, but I can't now. So now I'm wishing I hadn't posted one of those other threads, or maybe combined two into one if possible.

Next time I'm going to plan ahead before making threads.

  • 05.11.2012 3:04 AM PDT

Key

Any given person should be encouraged to make as many threads as they can unil the quality of those threads declines to a certain point or the blatant repetitiveness of that person as the OP causes their readers and responders to notice and become at least mildly upset by the users thread count. If you can post 7 threads in one day, and the threads were so high quality that your responders didn't realize it, you're doing it right.

The only reason I noticed it is because, well, you're you. It's to be exlefties when you're BNet- famous.

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

Was making 7 threads your way of proving a point?

Well I tried to keep the threads as unique as possible, but boy was it hard not to make a thread about forum titles... That's the 'go to' default thread template.

Did you really have to ask that?

I really don't have a problem with it, at all. All your topics where on-topic and where relevant to the community forum. The only time it gets annoying is when the threads become dribble an dlike you said you have nothing left to talk about.

You can make 7 good threads in 1 day but I don't agree with it solely because you would be fighting with yourself in terms of your threads staying on the front page.

But as long as you aren't making threads to make threads and have a legitimate issues(s) to talk about then I don't think you have posted too much.

  • 05.11.2012 3:19 AM PDT

I would guess it depends on the user.

The Song Of Nephilim

Xenoblade <3

Depends really. I never even reached the limit if there is one.

  • 05.11.2012 4:08 AM PDT

The goal here (I assume) is not to limit people who wish to post legitimately, but rather, to limit people who wish to do nothing but maliciously spam the forums.

Realistically, you have to draw the line somewhere and try to find a balance that does not impede legitimate posters, but also does not allow spammers too much latitude. Where is that line? I don't know.

What I do know is that I've been on this site for about seven and a half years. In my time, my posting habits have fluctuated, but I have never once hit any sort of post or topic limit.

For anyone who has... The questions becomes not one of quantity, but quality. Do you really come up with more than seven great ideas for discussions (that haven't already been posted) in a single day? And if so, is it really a common occurence?
