I believe that Bungie did the right thing because they wanted a break, well they got one but they also "sold" some of their members to 343i. Frankie being an example was possible the best thing that happened to halo series. Another employee whose name i cant recall was once a mod here that we hated and loved him. These two people were the core of the Bungie/Halo communtiy and when they left to join 343i everything turned into Blame Stosh bull-blam!-.

I ask the community this question," Do you think Bungie made the right choice? If you were Frankie or Shishka and you still worked at Bungie during the Bungie&Halo era, would you have made the choice to go to 343i and work to create Halo CEA and Halo 4/5/6?"

I'm an Anarchist. I don't need a government to be a good person, but I'm glad it's here because some of you clearly do.

I think it was a good idea. For me, there will be Bungie Halo, and everything else.

Comparing the plots of Halo 2 (because it was never intended from the start of Halo, just as Reach) to Halo Reach, it's pretty obvious that things were going downhill, if not having already hit some kind of stale bottom.

Make no mistake, I believe Reach is a great game, but what makes Halo Halo, rather than just some Sci-Fi shooter, had been lost by Reach.

Without writing an essay on why I think Bungies Halo was losing the spark, I can sum up my feelings on the matter as They quit while they were ahead. I'm glad Master Chief (and all Spartans) didn't experience the downfall of Sonic the Hedgehog while Bungie was in charge.

I love you Bungie...

I come here everyday hoping to see some news about their upcoming project...

I have faith in all of their abilities.

  • 05.12.2012 4:12 AM PDT

I'm happy for them. They want to work on something new, and I want to see what they can create.

  • 05.12.2012 4:17 AM PDT

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

Now we get Halo games and a new Bungie game.

Excited for them, I'm looking forward to the new projects.

Hopefully they are as good as the previous Bungie games.

You don't sell people. Pretty sure that's illegal.

Frankie left Bungie way back in 2008. Shishka also left Bungie of his own volition, and it is infact not the first time he's done so. I'd hesitate to call either of them the "core" of the community.

  • 05.12.2012 7:33 PM PDT

Key

They sold nobody... people chose to leave. It's called quitting. These aren't professional sports teams, they don't buy and sell employees. And how was Frankie the best thing to happen to the halo series? What has he done at all? What has his monumental contribution been? And what proof do you have that he's going to impact the Halo series in an important way at all? All 343 has done is copy another company's game and make a map pack for another company's game. Not incredibly impressive.

And what do you mean when they left everything turned into "Blame Stosh bull-blam!-?". You clearly are not around this community a lot if you think that A) that started after Shishka and Frankie left and B) that people say it all the time.

Also, even if Bungie did want to continue with Halo, they wouldn't have been allowed to. Microsoft took away their right to continue making the games. So they didn't choose to do anything that wouldn't have been forced to do already. And as for Frankie and Shishka, I feel the right decision was to do whatever they felt was best for them. Whatever they wanted to do more (stay with Bungie or work on Halo) was the right decision.

Well you know, you get sad at first. After a while you get use to the fact that they will no longer have Halo in their hands. (Probably one day again just to help)

But I do believe that Reach was just an extra effort Bungie made. ODST for me was the last Halo game Bungie really were committed to do.

Our dear Chad Armstrong is prob. raging on 343i forums because Frankie didnt give him the web title he had here... Shishka was strict but a great guy... Frankie on the other hand.. oh dear such a funny guy two complete opposites

Shishka-"Near the beginning of 2007, Shishka resigned as a moderator and Lorraine-assistant when he moved to Texas (along with Max Hoberman and quite a few others from various game development companies) to help form a new company Certain Affinity.

In March 2008 Chad returned to Bungie as a multiplayer designer, he worked there for 30 months where he played a key role in the development of Halo: Reach's forge and maintained the matchmaking of Halo 3.

He left Bungie in August 2010, just before Halo: Reach released, he then joined 343 Industries in October 2010."

Frankie- He announced his departure from Bungie on May 16, 2008 in order to work more closely with Microsoft Studios on Halo-related content

enough babbling bull-blam!-, Frankie is -blam!- cool guy while chad was a -blam!- bad kid moderator on here lol ..

ISU Cyclones!

I hope for the best in the future for the Halo series. Halo 2 had my fav campaign but the multiplayer got progressively better with each iteration. More balanced and more options with each one in the series.

I'm starting to get my hopes up a little that Bungie might be breaking their silence soon. Perhaps I'm looking a bit too much into it but through the youtube housekeeping and a couple twitter updates... It might not be long.

I'm glad that Bungie is moving on to something else. It's pretty clear to me that Bungie's heart isn't in Halo anymore. I'd rather have them make something they are passionate about like, that's how games like Halo 1,2 and 3 are made.

I spend too much time here.. too much time indeed.

I tweet?

It was time to push Halo out of the nest, now it's up to 343i to make it fly or let it plummet to earth. On the flip side, this is also Bungie's chance to prove they've still got it without Halo. I'm excited to see what will come of either.

This, basically. To me, Frankie is in 343 to be a familiar face to assuage Halo fans that everything is going to be fine. Frankly, I'm not excited for Halo 4 at all, and it doesn't help that Frankie basically said 'We prefer our own artistic whims than maintaining canon.' Besides, Frankie never really had anything to do with the technical part of the games.

Here, at the 4:00 minute mark.

Bungie did what they wanted to do with Halo. There is nothing worse than a franchise that has an end in mind, and then pumps out another film, book, or game, because of pressure. How many times have we seen an awesome movie get totally destroyed by it's not-so-well-thought-out sequel? Frankly, I'm glad they stopped before it got out of hand.

What they created is amazing. They did what a studio can only dream of, and I hope they can do it again.

Don't know how Bungie moving on from Halo is being "dismissed".
Personally, I am glad Bungie is not making Halo anymore. As much as I love 'em and their Halo games, I can't wait to see what awesome they are going to throw at us with their next game.
If I were working for Bungie and loved working on Halo and wanted to continue working on it, 343i would be a viable option to go with.
