I don't like this idea. I can just imagine the elitism and group wars on the mains if each member was readily identifiable to a single group.
I love this idea for that same reason.

Known by some, but not by all.

This would lead to gang wars. I mean group wars.

Every thread would basically become a mini Classifieds, in terms of group arguments, which actually doesn't sound too bad.

I think people who would initiate confrontation as a result of a group another one belongs to, would only be represented by a small population. And even then, I doubt it would be much of an issue. There's no indication of superiority and no measure of which group is best except maybe how well known a certain group is. And if someone wants to flame someone, I'd hope to God their insult would be more creative than, "LOL! You're in (X) group!!! Hahah I don't know why but that makes me better than you."

And if this offence was committed, then they would be dealt with accordingly.

Per Audacia Ad Astra

Nice idea. It would also lead to constant advertisement of groups should people read what group someone is from when they see it.

True, but it's not like we can't already do that with our signatures.

The last time I used the 'view signature' arrow button was to change the coup setting of someone's text visibility. That was a while ago.

There are many powers in the world, for good or for evil. Some are greater than I am. Against some I have not yet been measured. But my time is coming.

Chief vs the scarab? I find that hard to believe to roundhouse boot the scarab's figurative emotion out of the gaming zone.

I can see this being used/abused a sort of custom title editor. If I want something like "MIDGET LORD" to be shown under my avatar, all I would need to do is create a group, populate it with alts until I've met whatever the criteria is, and then I'm set. Everyone else would be able to do this as well. When you boil it down that way, you may as well just be asking for a secondary custom title.

Fac Fortia Et Patere

Obviously jumping far ahead here, but here's some ideas for how banners could be implemented:

> Group admin must be Bungie Pro member, and/or pay ($5?) fee for application to and approval from Bungie of 90 x 20 px banner or title (or whatever applies to the next website update).

> Group must be X amount of months old, and/or have X amount of members before Admin can see option for a banner/title (think Reach nameplates).

> Members must be in a group for X amount of months to have option for banner/title (again, nameplates). Possibly even have to pay a fee to have a banner.

* has this under their emblem *

* new users get confused *

* pandemonium ensues *
Nice point.

Wouldn't they be perma-banned for misleading, though?
