Subject: Could the UNSC finish off the remaining covies?

"Shall we let the Flood consume our holy city? Turn High Charity into another of their wretched hives? No enemy has ever withstood our might. The Flood, too, shall fail."

-Prophet of Truth.

If the UNSC decided to fight the remainder of the seperatists the very next day after the war was over, would they be able to win?

They would easily destroy the grunts, jackals, and hunters since those three really don't have a fleet for space.

The San'Shyuum ran away.

After reading Glasslands it seems that the Elites have nothing left except infantry and a couple of ships at their disposal.... The UNSC still has a handful of ships, and Infinity.

However in the Halo: Legends episode with the elite that takes place six years after the war, the elite does say that they have been warring with the Brutes for a while..... which could also mean that both elites and brutes still have a considerable force.

With this in mind I think the UNSC would be able to completely defeat Sanghelios.

Same goes for the brutes.

Thoughts?

Waypoint Moderators aren't really Moderators, just power hungry and its goal is defend their beloved Halo at all costs. (Meaning that they wank Halo too much.)

BS Angel is alleged foe so, be wary of Waypoint and its moderators! Do not attempt to move to Waypoint. Enter your own risk.

*WARNING* IT IS MY OPINION.

No.

Aforementioned metaphors with semiconsious ocean laws.

Sanghelli would rally and kill them. Brtes would kill everyone becasue they are Brutes.

  • 05.12.2012 4:38 PM PDT

"Halo! Its divine wind will rush through the stars, propelling all who are worthy along the path to salvation."

The Sanghelli are not to be trifled with, especially when it comes to their homeworld.

  • 05.12.2012 5:46 PM PDT

The Brutes and Sangheili have been warring for a while, meaning they still have troops and ships.

The Brutes will fight anyone. The Sangheili will fight the UNSC if they attack first.

A two front war? No thanks. That's how Germany lost WWII.

Doubtful. The UNSC had a handful of ships and the Infinity and that's it. The Elites at most have a dozen and one of them is enough to take out 3 frigates which are what the UNSC has left.

Infinity on the other hand might pose a problem, but would utterly fall to the other 10 ships i'd imagine.

I highly doubt it, but then again, the UNSC does seem to be recovering oddly fast. Who knows.

This man, this man right here put it so eloquently that I actually cancelled my own 2000+ word long post.

The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

If all the Covenant forces united under a banner to fight the UNSC, I don't think so.

If the UNSC fought each race individually, they'd only have serious problems with the Elites, and on a smaller level with the Brutes. Maybe the Jackals would conduct guerrilla warfare in asteroid fields, but IMO, they wouldn't last too long.

The rest would be exterminated.

Yes, They have at least one Halo ring at their disposal and a massive shield world full of Forerunner tech.

Covies would get curbstomped.

And the UNSC are updating all their tech overall, things are looking grim for the Covenant remnants.

But the problem is he is asking if they attacked the day after the war, would they win? And the answer is no, it would take time to unlock the secerts of forerunner tech not minutes.

Oops my bad, didn't read that part.

I doubt the UNSC would use a Halo.

Why would the UNSC use a halo. Everyone dies.

I think that in a war, you want your side to survive if possible.

Halo's can target tune down their firepower just for a single starsystem.

We should know better, because we are better.

Doubtful. The UNSC was a shadow of its former self. The Elites still had ships left over from the Ark battle and so did the Brutes. The UNSc would need a lot of manpower to wipe out those two, especially considering neither of their homeworlds were touched by the war.

Nope, as someone mentioned, the Sanghelli would rally together to combat the UNSC and would more then likely win.

Actually in Glasslands there was a part where an elite on Sanghelios, I forgot which one, describes looking at a valley that was glassed during the Great Schism. I'm sure on the Brute homeworld there must have been some kind of elite population considering brutes and grunts were allowed to live on Sanghelios.

I enjoy magma.

I really doubt it. After the Battle of Earth, there's virtually nothing major left of the UNSC fleets. The fleet defending Earth was all but entirely obliterated. Based on the language used and the way things are described I can only imagine the UNSC is plum out of carriers and cruisers, and should they have any left I imagine less than 3 of either. Probably running uncomfortably low on destroyers. Honestly what they have left is probably a few dozen frigates, and lord knows how many prowlers, plus Infinity.

But there's also the problem of all the worlds they lost contact with that are possibly still around, they may have ships remaining. But again, based on language, probably nothing but frigates.

So in short, no. They simply lack the naval power to fight.

Yep. The UNSC having control of a Halo could be a very dangerous thing for anyone who tries to get in their way...

They probably do after questioning remnants of 343 GS.
