The recent most popular theory, a theory about another Halo ring being under the earth's crust. It would be cool... but it is pure specualtion, is seemingly impossible (and I will explain why in this post), and is based on a song on the Halo 2 Volume 2 Soundtrack.

Road to Voi is the song on the soundtrack... Voi is near Mombasa... both are near the equator. Well, because they're NEAR the equator, there must be a ring under it, right?

Would satellites and metal detectors/electronic detectors go crazy if an artificial planet (shaped as a ring) was placed under the earth.

It would be hot, it's very deep below the earths crust, it would be near or at the mantle of the earth, and would not be able to hold it's own.

There would be no sky.. no air... no place to walk. Bury a rock, how can people walk on that rock?

are you on crack, and anyways the ring would have to be a reverse halo because the ark is pointing up, but its not a ring.

the forerunners probally thought of that and fixed it if it is under the equator

Mars has a Halo under it clearly.

This is the same reason why the Steven Spielberg version of War of the Worlds had a ridiculous plot. Hundreds of giant robots buried underneath the earth, underneath big cities that are constantly being dug under, and we couldn't find one?! Same thing with a Halo buried underneath the Earth. Also to be noted is that the Ark (presumably Earth or on Earth) is to be used to remotely activate other halos. This would imply that the Earth is not a Halo nor does it contain one.

There's a different between some unactivated robots and a huge planet with switches and stuff.

We dont know wut metal the halos are made out of, so it can be said that a metal detector may not pick one up.

think about this for a second... maybe its halo SPHERE buried under the earth?

Maybe Scientists were wrong about the lava and mantle stuff. However theres a halo sphere buried under the earth. again none really knows whats in the centre of a planet and again have we dug that far to check it out ... NO. so well theres an interesting idea.

Halo CE......(sigh) the good ol' days......

“Go, stranger, and to Lacedaemon tell that here, obeying her behests, we fell.”

what is the point of burying a halo under earth, what would it accomplish????
