Subject: Will Bungie have annual releases now?

Because Bungie is now owned by Activison, does that mean they'll be forced to have annual releases like CoD? Activison forces Treyarch and Infinity Ward to do it. Will Bungie be treated the same?

I'm just curious. I don't want Bungie games to drop in quality like CoD.

Yes, two years to make the game. One year to keep releasing it with little to no changes.

Nope.

This should shed some light on the subject.
Thanks, I guess...

Wheres Meh Sniper?

Youtube page

I hope not. Sure something to play every year is nice. But if a game sequel comes out every couple years. It makes the game much more special.

And Activision can't force them to make anything, Bungie makes games and Activision just publishes them.

So, why is CoD releasing a new one every year? Activision has nothing to do with it?

Key

Bungie's relationship with Activision is nothing like Infinity Ward's or Treyarch's, from what I understand. And Bungie's never been the type of company to rush out annual games, so I doubt they would sign a contract that binds them to such an agreement/obligation.

Because unlike Bungie, Infinity Ward and Treyarch are owned by Activision.

I don't get this. How are they owned by Activision but Bungie isn't?

How are you confused by this?

Companies in this conversation owned by Activision:

-Treyarch

-Infinity Ward

Companies in this conversation not owned by Activision:

-Bungie

It's not that complex of a concept.

You work for a company but aren't owned by them. That's whats confusing.

Probably not annually.

Just because I work for a company doesn't mean they own me. Bungie signed a deal with Activision to publish their games, nothing more. Bungie isn't owned by any other company.

OK, dilemma solved.

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

As long as Bungie isn't on "Valve" time I am happy.

Here is how it works
-Activision gives Bungie money as an investment
-Bungie makes awesome game
-Bungie makes a lot of money
-Activision gets a share of the profits for providing the initial capital
-To ensure that there (Activision) investment is long term, they sign a deal so that they are the only ones who can give bungie money and directly reap a portion of the profits.

They are in no way owned by Activision.

Please stop complaining about the 'death of a loved one' it's my job. They probably deserved it anyways. Here's a warning, if you keep making pentagrams out of the neighbors livestock I will personally come to your house and kill everyone you love. Now leave me alone, I got to get back to work.
~M.D~

This is news to me, but I think bungie will better with activision.

  • 05.13.2012 7:09 PM PDT

If I was Activison I wouldn't want two games that I published competing against each other year after year.

So no, I don't think Bungie will be forced to release games annually. Also, Bungie is not OWNED by Activison, they simply get their games published by them.
