Subject: Want to know why people are so bad at this game?

Halo 2 > Halo 3 > Halo 3 ODST > Halo Reach > Halo CE

Based on campaigns.

It's not because they are stupid, or retarded or disabled or whatever, it's because they aren't cut out for multiplayer games.

People who are bad at multiplayer games either

A. Have slow reflexes

B. Have shaky fingers

C. Have poor situational awareness

D. All of the above

So to all you people saying that bad players are 'retards' or whatever are just being stupid. People are cut out for different things, and the people who are bad at this game are simply just not good at games. That's like a footballer calling someone else retarded because they lack the skills they do, and they always will.

So yes, just needed to get that off my chest

Bungie created the host-selection system.

And you know this how?

LOL, Mains kids

It makes me laugh when people blame aim for their shortcomings.

It's not just aim that makes you bad. It's your lack of understanding of the game. That includes map control, movement, team work all while aiming.

So what if you have a decent shot if you're brain dead. You're still bad.

Well then I guess some people don't have a very tactical mindset. Doesn't make them brain dead.

Just makes them not as smart as the other people beating them, so techinqualy they are stupid compared to better players, since the better players are smarter...

But they are not 'stupid' they are jus not very good at being tactical on a battlefield

No no, that can't possibly be true. It isn't insulting enough to be a valid evaluation of less skilled players.

Get with the program and inject more offensive material into your reasoning. Then try again.

Take away aiming and what good does all that do you?

You can't control a map if you don't kill people.
You can't kill people if you can't aim.

Some people can be quite tactical, I consider myself a tactical thinker because I was trained that way. Sometimes it just doesn't translate very well (or easily) in games.

I <3 Halo:Reach - amazingly fun and best campaign + amazing Soundtrack
I <3 Halo 3:ODST - best soundtrack + Firefight + Coastal Highway and Mombassa Streets, amazingly unique campaign.
I <3 Halo 3 - best multiplayer levels + Forge + best Custom Games + soundtrack
I <3 Halo 2 - amazing huge fun campaign + soundtrack + Fun multiplayer
I <3 Halo: CE - started it all

Well, I always see my teammates just miss common-sense moments.

Why would you not go and pick up the flag that 20 feet away from our base?
Why would you get into a mongoose on Team Snipers on Hemmorhage?
Why would you be so oblivious to the environment around you, and only focus on yourself, not the team or the objective?
Why would you keep going up the yellow lift when there is a guy with a sword above it?
Why do you fly the Falcon at an angle I cant see the enemies at?
Why do you shoot me because I got in the tank?
Why does my whole team go to one hill on invasion?

Individual aim isn't nearly as important as people make it out to be.

Most players just have the incorrect assumption that being good = godly aim, and that the better you are the better your shot is. That's just flat out incorrect.

For pros, yeah, they all have pretty dirty aim. However what separates them from each other is their smarts, team work, and decision making.

Exactly, they are stupid because they lack any common sense. If we lived 1000's of years ago when you had to have some common sense to survive all those idiots would be dead, just saying...

Ya, most of my games I played in MLG I played without a mic and did fine. Because I used very basic knowledge and of course natural skill to win games. People forget basic knowledge is half the battle to being good at a game...

Lol, well a 5-star in MLG is going to understand what I mean.

People just need to realize that becoming a smarter player -> better team work -> better aim -> winning more and being a better overall player.

Everything but aim and those natural instincts can be taught. Aim is just repetition and instincts are more of predicting a situation unfolding based on prior experience.

^ There - for any bad player, that's how you become better.

Yes, observation of those by playing video games is a valid study and ties directly with natural survival. C'mon, get your head out of your ass.

People are bad at video games for that fact that they simply don't care. If they really wanted to improve, then they would dedicate more time to playing. They lack the understanding or basic knowledge of game mechanics for the simple reason of that they don't care. They play to have fun, and thus the game accomplished what it was designed for. By no means am I implying that it's not frustrating to play with these people.

  • 05.14.2012 7:41 AM PDT

Many of the good people left because they did not like Reach and now they play other multiplayer games.

There are Inheritors and people who've been playing since HCE that are still bad at the game.

It doesn't matter how much you've played. It matters how you've played.

If people want to get better they'll stop playing AR starts on Countdown and start playing more skillful playlists that require more teamwork and smarter decision making.

My aim is pretty good (when my controller isn't slow turning or button-sticking) because I've been playing Halo for over a decade. However, I'm not the smartest player and I'll often push too much by myself or be on the wrong side of the map at the wrong time. When that happens, it doesn't matter if I can shoot well if I'm not playing smart.
