Subject: Hmm, what can we depict about Requiem and the campaign?

Absolutely buzzing for H4. But yeah, the box art is interesting... things are moving on to a greater scale.

I have to say this is the best Halo box art. After Halo 2, I have hated all the box art.

I'll start by saying that I think the Chief is located on the inside of Requiem. In the sorta top right you can spot a building. What I notice is that the Forward Unto Dawn is being pushed out and the UNSC Infinity is not present. Showing that the Infinity will probably not be destoryed in Halo 4.
We see one UNSC ship being pulled into the light, while we see multiple Covenant battle ships being pulled. Meaning the Covenant stand no chance in this fight or they are just not relavent anymore with this new enemy.

I don't see the Covenant allying with humanity. In fact, I think the "new threat" will make quick work of the Covies and most likely cripple them to irrelevancy early in the game.

Hopefully we will see something of this nature, would put the new enemy in perspective as a much greater threat to the Universe.

Thing I don't understand though is that IF the new enemy is Forerunner why the hell would they be combating humanity. Throughout the entire Halo series mankind has been the only species capable of activating their artifacts which means they are either human or they made it so that humans could activate the artifacts.

Humanity is in control of most the Halo rings and knows how to use them on their enemies.
Mankind is now expanding technologically faster than ever thanks to all the uncovered forerunner tech and covenant tech.
The forerunners may not like how much power the humans are gaining so fast and with the humans in control of the Halos, it's very possible to see the forerunners pissed with what the humans are doing.

Hey, Firelord! Yeah, I'm sure the Covenant is going to be made practically irrelevant early in the game and everything's going to focus on the new threat.

I think a lot of what can be picked from the box art has already been picked. Although I must say, after a decade of exploring the Halo Universe where Covenant ships have repeatedly layed waste to human fleets with relative ease...

...I am relishing seeing some Forerunner defense system cut through some Covie ships like a hot knife through some extremely soft butter.

Then again, human and Covenant technologies would have merged by the time Halo 4 takes place, so it'll be interesting to see what happens. Also, Glasslands starts to explore how humans have started to harness and implement Forerunner technologies into ships and weapons, so we might also see some pretty nice human ships in the game.

I have always dreamed of playing in a space battle such as the ones described on the books... let's hope there is one in Halo 4, humans and covies vs. Forerunners would make for a VERY interesting mission.

Ahhh, yes. The space battles in the books are great. Especially the battle with the infamous Keyes Loop. Those really had me on the edge of my seat, more so than the ground battles. Those Covenant ships felt so damn intimidating and the odds felt so far against our favor. I don't know, they just did a great job with writing that. I would like to see a space battle in Halo 4.

The "Keyes Loop" was one of my favourite parts of The Fall of Reach.
That man was damn good at what he did.

Not all Forerunners liked us. Some even hated us.

The Librarian was the master mind behind our inheretance, not all Forerunners. Civil wars were fought amongst them towards the end, so there is no doubt that there are many factions.

Yeah, if you read Cryptum and Primordium you'll understand. I'm sure we're going to see different factions of Forerunners in the new trilogy. Some that we'll most likely ally with and those who we will fight against. We'll see.

This is the best interpretation, in my opinion. It seems the old UNSC vs Covenant is done with. Now, it's all about Requiem and the Forerunners, etc. Possibly even means that they're coming together, for good, maybe. Done with being enemies and now turning toward a new threat. Sorta like when the Flood happened.

I wouldn't go that far. The Covenant ship is likely just there to give it some familiarity and to entice those fans who like fighting the Covenant.

Yeah, I'm not expecting that to actually happen. I was really only just throwing it out there as a distant possibility.

*small spoilers*
We know that Chief fights with Covenant on the first mission or so. I don't see any of them having intention on making peace or anything like that anytime soon.

In a recent interview, Frankie kinda suggests the Covenant will be in Requiem too...

It's already been confirmed, take another look at the right side of the possible box art picture.
Unless i'm taking this the wrong way and you mean the Covenant have been living on Requiem for a span of time prior to FUD crash landing on it which I doubt, very much.
If the covenant have been living there why is that ship crashing there, why is it not being helped?

Which, if it helps, is provided the enemy is the Forerunners in the first place.

I don't understand this. HCEA is essentially a carbon copy of H:CE except with updated graphics. How can you say that they did a sloppy job with it?
I was expecting an immersive experience, not one where I end up raging every 5 minutes because of minor issues.

I have to admit when i first started play CEA I was annoyed at a few things. Firstly I was pissed off about Cortana's H3 look, I was expecting and would have preferred a revamped H1 Cortana. Secondly during the cut-scenes I always have this feeling that the voice and movements are ever so slightly out of sync.

But saying that it is still a great looking game overall, in fact it is a beautiful looking game.

I was more talking about how the interview suggests that the Covenant will be on Requiem for a long duration like Chief, and not just a brief stint at the beginning of the game.

On a completely random note, I can't stop listening to this and thinking of playing as Spartan-IV on the UNSC Infinity...

Meh, my problem with that artwork?

The Forward Unto Dawn hulk looks nothing like the rear half of a UNSC frigate. More like a cruiser or destroyer <_<.

Edit: It also has the NEW UNSC icon, not the old one. Which makes zero sense whatsoever.

Lots of large structures.

  • 05.18.2012 5:39 PM PDT

The ship looks like a modified version of the Infinity IMO. It's way too different from the frigates in past games. But differences from the concept art to box art maybe just be design changes.

In regard to Forward Unto Dawn on the side, I think it's just a motto/battle cry that's posted on the side. The captain of the Infinty was inspired by the chief, and judging from the name of the short films, the chief and captain encountered each other on the FUD.

Also, if it's the Infinty it obvious that it crashes in the game.

Foman is awesome!

I get the feeling that the hostile Covenant in Halo 4 are the Servants of Abiding Truth or a similar fraction of Elites.

I know this is a bit off topic but I cant wait to see if they bring back the Arbiter in the later games. Seeing as the presence of the Covenant is confirmed then theres a pretty good chance we will see him or maybe Rtas.

Yeah, that'd be ONI's fault.

I mean, that group going from two old bombers and a boarding craft to a LARGE fleet, when the Elites can barely keep their ships together?

avid forger, love vehicle gameplay

I've hated the Foward unto Dawn's new look right from the announcement trailer. Ther's no cargo hump at the rear from which we so fondly remember being delivered our Scorpions on the Ark. There are NO ENGINE PODS on the side of the ship, only those little shield. And My single biggest qualm is that on the rear of the FuD, there are engines instead of a cargo Bay door. This Breaks the entire Halo 3 ending, which was the single coolest warthog segment to grace Halo ever.

Stupid art designers...

I feel ya, man. I'm sure most Halo fans are looking forward to the Arbiter's return. It may not be in Halo 4, but maybe Halo 5 or 6. Either way, it'll be a glorious turn, nonetheless.
