Law of Occurence
The law states that this forum and any other forum will lack positive fluctuation in discussion-frequency unless something relatively major* has occured.

The Law of Occurence also causes random topics to be made as there is nothing recent to discuss.

*with regards to the public eye, breaking news and other national/international events - or occurences of high reputation.

Law of Repetition
This law states that the more a subject is talked about, the less likely it will be discussed in the future, unless the Law of Occurence causes a repetitive topic to be recreated. This law can likely only occur when few new users join Bungie.net.

What do you think? Is this true?

Wat?

It's times like these that I wish we could 'like' posts, like on Waypoint.

On topic.. So you're saying we're running out of things to talk about...?

No, we simply have nothing to talk about if nothing happens.

Well, that makes sense...

So create a discussion, don't wait for someone else to do it.

About what exactly? You would have to think of something random as nothing has happened.

This, listen...every story has been told, it's how you tell it that matters.

Your law of repetition would likely not hold true here as new users are constantly joining the site and users who do not frequent forums enough may miss out on existing discussions.

Ah yes you're right, that law can only begin to act when the average new users per interval of time is very low.

Google has failed me, perhaps you could elaborate?

Duffin's Law: "As a discussion in The Septagon (Community Forum) about elitism grows longer, the probability of mentioning TFM approaches one."

Though I would say that off topic boards across the internet are proof that people can talk about the exact same things over and over again.

No, we simply have nothing to talk about if nothing happens.
Then why are we having this rather unique discussion right now? I would like to argue that the assumption that nothing is happening is incorrect.

If I had an idea for a topic that I wanted to make, I would make it. Use your imagination. Look at all the topics that are currently being created.

By the way, those are what you call "theories", not laws.

Well, I've already proven Godwin's Law.
