I changed usernames to match my gamertag. My original account, wambo114, was created when I got xbox live. I'm a 2007 kid really!

Yes I know that you shouldn't do this.

However, I'm in the unusual position where I have the new(ish) 4GB xbox, with the 250GB hard drive as well. If I install Halo 3 to the small drive (it just fits), and then select the large one when the game starts up (in the list where it asks: HDD, MU, or cloud storage), it should theoretically be the same as running the game off disc, as both are seperate drives, but without the noise.

Thoughts?

I have loaded up maps in custom games and there wasn't any difference in load times compared to before.

It's 100% safe to install Halo to your HDD. I have it installed and it works fine. Maps load much faster.

I thought there were caching issues when you ran the game off the same drive that it saves to?

Only for the disk that has the campaign on it. Halo: 3 Mythic is 100% safe to install.

"What are we holding on to, Sam?"
"That there's some good in this world, and it's worth fighting for."

Yeah, if you install the Halo 3 Multiplayer disc that came with ODST, it runs like a charm. Unless you still play campaign constantly or something, just install that and everything will run fine.

'Safe,' sure. Halo 3 is 'safe' too. But it's not advisable.

Gamertag: Altered Vista

Games on Demand Master Race. I can play any campaign or multiplayer level and I don't have any hardware problems coz no disc. Also, I don't dashboard coz quickplay option. I can skip loading after I loaded game once for the day. :)
