The campaign needs more work that's all.

It wasn't the mechanics (Bloom, AAs). It was the sloppy execution, overuse of cinematics, gimmicks (space battles, a mission made specifically for E3), and poor sense of balancing.

Some small things that would make Reach's campaign better to me:

-more checkpoints. Checkpoints encourage replayability
-make more cinematics skippable
-make LNoS more interesting. Mission Start doesn't have anything interesting to offer. You can't do much with the infinitely spawning AI. The Seraph glitch isn't fun to pilot in such closed spaces
-get rid of the sluggish responsiveness for friendly AI. That means turning and getting in vehicles
-fix the hog's physics, give it more weight. It's got the splatter but it lacks the stability
-fix the Wraith by making it more durable. Hell, take away it's vehicle health on levels where it rarely appears (LNoS). Right now, it's just a big target for plasma pistol overcharge spam
-make AI more responsive. Constant berserking and panicking is simply too small and repetitious to get enjoyment out of. I notice Grunts do a new hop animation or whatever but that seems rare
-integrate Bobs better. They just disappear, completely destroying immersion if you spot one. Even teleporting Arby was more believable since he had fade into/out of camo

And that gentlemen, is how to make a proper Reach 2.0. Reach isn't a fail game. It's a fail Halo game. It's just infected with the problems that have plagued Halo over the years. I.e. dual wielding may be gone but more weapons makes it more harder to balance them, pistol is crap and considered a sidearm
