For the 1000000000000000000000th time, that is IMPOSSIBLE because HALO 3s servers are connected to XBOX LIVE FOR THE 360! The only reason HALO 2 was shutdown is because XBOX LIVE FOR THE ORIGINAL XBOX WAS SHUTDOWN.

This is a Reach account that I created the day they announced his name in a bnet weekly update. Any stats regarding ODST or Halo 3 are irrelevant. Also, Halo CE master race. Halo 1 > other halo games > other games.

If halo 3 had proper hitscan, then it would be closer to halo 1. I like the maps and equipment, but dispise the bullet spread. I like the magnum in halo 3 a little, but without scope it's terrible. Certainly better than the useless Halo 2 magnums. Halo Reach's beta magnums were -blam!- great and then they ruined the bloom and lowered the clip size. They ruined the best thing that game had going for it. This is why I'm glad 343i isn't having public beta. Whoever complained about the Reach beta magnum deserves to never play halo again.

I also really loved the Reach beta magnum. If I am not mistaken, the bloom remained the same, it was just the rate of fire that got nerfed. That thing had an intense rate of fire in the beta.

3 had terrible maps overall. When there is more bad than good, it isn't a good set. You can name Gemini and Backwash bad in 2, but it had no other maps that were on the bad-level of Snowbound or Construct.

THIS IS TRUE.

H3, ODST, and Reach each brought back things from CE. But only one Halo game returned to the game mechanics.

Though ODST may have improved on some things from H3 and restored the mystery and atmosphere, H3 is currently the most closest Halo to CE in game mechanics.

The friendly AI are fast and responsive (except when taking damage) and sometimes stay with the player. The AI driving is terrible but H2's was tightly scripted so it's fair to say that H3 was a good attempt at extending AI driving.

Reach was a -blam!- downgrade, externally resembling CE.

Where's the AI noticing their allies dead bodies landing in front of them (which was in H3)?
Where's the thing that made the H1 pistol so godly, the accuracy (which was in H3, it just lacked a scope)?
Where's the reliable friendly AI that I can trust to kill a single Jackal (in H3, the marines could handle a Jackal)?
Where's the pet Jackals (in H3, this was a great addition to the series. Not as bad as the Jackal sniper nerf really. It got removed in ODST)?
Where's the spots that give me infinite checkpoints (in H3, the warehouse and third tower have these)?
Where's the cutscene manipulation (stuff like this)?


Where's the resurrection ability? It was so boss and used sparingly in H3. Invincibility was only given when they were in precarious places, died a lot, essential to the current plot, or could be used by the player (and they still can despite being invincible. You can flip them out of Pelicans and stop Arby on The Ark from leaving).

Making friendly AI invincible all the time is a major downgrade. I can understand H3 ODST but Reach sure was trying to hide Noble Team's tiny brains. Reach pretty much took what ODST introduced and -blam!- it up: Firefight, first person cutscenes, invincible friendly AI.


Where's the replayability? The lack of cutscenes, the 10 second countdowns, the short missions, LNoS, the retarded friendly AI, the massive teases (TotS, Scarabs on PoA), and overuse of first person cutscenes all point to the fact that Reach ditched Halo's tried and true ways and tried to change it into a freaking fail movie, where the 'professional' good guys get taken out one by one as if they were nothing. Bungie killed gameplay for a stupid story. Fall of Reach would have been 10x better.

I like the magnum in halo 3 a little, but without scope it's terrible. Certainly better than the useless Halo 2 magnums.
Though I don't find the H2 magnum an annoyance to use, the lack of ammo and scope makes it quite terrible. Plus, in most medium range battles, I have to use up half the clip.

For the H3 pistol, I find pacing shots helps (unlike Reach where it is extremely aggravating). Works best with Blind skull turned on so I don't feel like it has a crap rof.

I did not know that it had a bigger clip size in the beta! This makes me weep just thinking about it.

I'm quite worried for H4's pistol. In that build played by MLG, it's a 6sk with that stupid 8 clip size and Reach-like Bloom and rof. When will people learn that it's a skill to hit targets while firing said gun as fast as possible? It was only spam in Reach because of the hitboxes + large bulky Spartan targets.

And why isn't recoil used instead? I had a little difficulty adjusting the ODST pistol and that was with minimum recoil. Oh wait, of course, the H4 pistol is being designed for casual players to the grievance of competitive players and classic fans.

Thanks. I usually don't like H3, but still, it has been my life work (I've made many H3 videos, more than H2 and CE) and when I see people speaking truth about it, it makes me glad that I worked with it instead of Reach. And when I see people speaking bs about it, I have to defend it.

Reach is pretty much Smash Bros. Brawl while the trilogy is (mostly) Smash Bros. Melee.

This is the way I see things these days:

H1 campaign: 98% balanced, H1 mp: nearly balanced
H2 campaign: made harder, H2 mp: made easier
H3 campaign: made easier, H3 mp: almost balanced
Reach campaign: made absurd, Reach mp: made easier

That doesn't mean I don't like H2. I used absurd instead of harder because Reach went too far with difficulty. As in, the AI don't got brains or creativeness. They just do a lot of damage, take a lot of damage, and swarm (like in Firefight). And anyone who's played with Boom, Bandanna, and Recession turned on will know that those are just attempts to make CE like Reach Firefight... The blast radius of Reach's explosives were absurd no doubt.

Anyways, I'm hoping H4 follows the steps of Project M (I doubt it though), which seeks to fully restore gameplay mechanics and characters while retaining/adjusting the few improvements of it's base game, instead of being another Reach and completely disregarding it's predecessors.

It's sad that Reach is unfixable. This is in part due to how inaccessible modding is. When you see things like CMT SPV3, you know that there's a chance to make a game better. CMT SPV3 had way more options than Halo PC and it felt like a mix of CE, H2, and H3 (though it had some bad things from Reach like the constant plasma pistol overcharge spam). Hence, I'd be very disappointed if H4 didn't have a whole lot of options.

No, the bloom was a bit different, too. The DMR and Magnum bloom both were changed. I noticed with both guns you had just enough time to realign your shots to compensate for player movement. The bloom was changed a bit for the magnum, and way more for the DMR. It was noticeable to me because I prefer the magnum to BR/DMR as many halo fans do. Clip size, bloom, rate of fire were all changed. Pretty much all the small changes added up to a crappy weapon.

Quality post. Reach is super easy accept a few Ultras that are only powerful because they have rapid fire bottomless clipped concussion rifle. I remember doing the autoturret part on solo legendary and there are so many little glitches in those mountains. All you do is hide in mountains, then lure the enemy and sprint to whatever turret needs to be fixed and repeat.

Actually, a lot of the halo fanbase like Construct. Their Halo CE remakes were pretty good. Avalanche was not quite as good as Sidewinder, but Cold Storage is one of my favorite maps in Halo 3. Every time I get it on Rumble Pit I'm extremely satisfied even with H3's flaws.

That's not exactly how it works. The Halo 2 servers were shutdown because the original Xbox Live service was shutdown.
