I used to browse bungie.net for cool looking halo 3 maps and gametypes, but after bungie gave all halo related things to 343i, i have no idea how to download maps. Can anyone help me out, i'm hosting a halo 3 lan party this weekend and would really love some maps other than the vanilla ones.

You just need to browse from your Xbox now mate.

i wasn't aware you could do that on Halo 3, i knew you could do it on reach though. i was talking about custom maps too, i know i might come off as confusing.

He means browse people's fileshares. That's the only way now.

Indeed. Sorry, I should have been more clear.

There is one other thing you could do I just thought of, Thread Maker.
You go to your file share. The files that were up March 31st will still be there, you just can't do anything with them. So put in tag words in the files search bar. Search on Bnet until you find something that looks interesting. You won't have any files made in the last two months, but that's not too big a deal considering how long the game has been out already.

Once you find a file you like, go onto Halo 3 and go through that uploader's file share from your Xbox. Hopefully the file will still be there.

It might be a little quicker, anyway.

To do this, send the creator of the file a friend request or chat invite.

Be even more clear BS! :)
