Subject: Does reading posts contribute to the forums?

A lot of members only read posts and rarely post their own posts or threads.

Should members be required to post in order to keep their account activated, or their title, or some other perks?

For too long have members been taking without giving anything back in return.

Is this supposed to be a parody?

OT: Yes it does, but you cannot make people read before they post.

Yes. There shouldn't be any sort of institution keeping deadweight accounts from failing, members should have to show their commitment through a level of acceptable posting determined by the masses. No more handouts to underperforming lazy members who take from us hard-posting individuals and just sit around lazily not even bothering to look for things to post.

  • 05.18.2012 3:58 AM PDT

We should add random drug screenings too.

  • 05.18.2012 3:59 AM PDT

Some people probably should just stick to reading posts...

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

I think they should add the automatic account deletion back. I think it has to do with this issue since someone could just abandon their account.

Although titles are already affected from posting activity, aren't they?

:)

I agree, OP. Too many times I'll make a thread that gets ~10 replies when obviously hundreds of people have looked at it.

Yes, there're too many numbers in my name.

It doesn't feel right for someone to feel obligated to post. Sure it's a gracious thing to do, but the quality of language and validity of claims are often dampened when you force-feed the horse rather than letting it wander to the food itself.

I lol'd

But no of course not. If you have nothing to add then why add anything at all?

  • 05.18.2012 5:02 AM PDT

We should instate random violent floggings for those whose post count does not meet the mandated standard.

So called genuine responses just distract attention away from the op and encourage discussion between members in my thread. I did not make the thread for people to reply to each other, I made it for people to reply to me.

How do you punish someone for not posting? Ban them?

It is a discussion board. And besides, witty on-topic banter is what keeps Bungie.net so minty fresh.

I find it somewhat comical that more people have probably read the OP and not posted than posted.

So having a Bungie.net account would feel like a burden? Something you have to maintain to keep what you had worked for before? Sounds awful to me.

Just imagine all the people that would be here posting just to keep their titles. Posting without any sort of emotion at all. Not a very fun environment at all.
