A crappy search is worse than no search at all.

We are working on figuring out a solution to adding search to this site. But we're not going to expend effort putting in a half-assed solution.

Yeah, like on the Atari Forum (For UT2004), you can only search once every 60 seconds and your search length must be between 5 and 8 characters... So, if you look for "Tournament" (Part of the game's NAME!), you have to wait a minute and try again with a different query, just for it to not find it, but 500 other threads. After searching through 25 pages, the site f's up and spastically switches forum, so I'll be magically transported to the TOTALLY SPIES! THE GAME forum or one of the million Dragonball Z forums...

Only nature can enslave man and only when the existence of each last entity is routed out and made to stand naked before him will he be properly suzerain of the earth."

a search button doesnt have to be perfect just to find something that starts with a certain word or letter. its no big deal i just look for old stuff like 2004 or videos...start with something easy then more specific like a name of a player...lil poison and so on.

I want to find a topic on...oh...say...theories on how Cortana was affected by Gravemind.

There are probably hundreds of threads about it, but how many are named that specifically? How many are simply named "Cortana Theory?" How many threads would I get not about what I wanted (I would guess about as many that were about what I wanted)?

That's a huge hurdle to jump. When people can make up their own titles, it makes searching difficult for the member, meaning they don't want to use the search feature, meaning they just don't use it (going back to Achronos' "A crappy search feature is worse than no search feature at all").

And I still don't see the real purpose of a such a feature except for helping people find their own threads (something easily remedied by bookmarking).

but they would probably put catagories and sub catagories naturally to get there faster, for instance...

topic..septagon
next..
title..cortana
next
words in...feelings

thats a good idea

I think the thread finder/search option has the most support out of all of the group improvement ideas and it would do a lot of good.

I dont blame you ther if you going to make the effort to do it then do it right the first time right?
