I got these cheeseburgers man....

So, I wouldn't see an FPS decrease with 2 monitors?

  • 09.02.2012 7:39 PM PDT

Who the hell do you think I am?

The game would not be put over both monitors, so no.

There are lots of differences between both brands of cards, some being more capable than the other in plenty of different areas.

I cant remember exactly in which ways they are better than each other, but I do remember that Crossfire technology is slightly more advanced than SLI.

The 660ti could support multiple monitors, sure. If you're getting two, you would use one monitor for the game and the other for browsing the web and such. Although, if you're getting a third monitor you would probably see a large FPS decrease, and you would want to get a second GPU. As long as your MOBO and PSU can handle it efficiently, that is.

One AMD eyefinity can handle 6 monitors

Yes, ONE card, it has like, 6 DVI ports at the back.

Games aren't put on 3 monitors either unless you wanted them to

You could still chill on photoshop and browse the web with your other 2.

Yeah, I'm just saying if you are planning to spread the game across them.

I think only certain games support triple-monitors anyway.

So, 7870 or 660ti? I can't decide which one for my soon-to-be rig.
660 Ti.

But in my case, the 660 Ti more expensive than the 7870... Guess all computer parts are overpriced at where I am. And it's strange that Sapphire cards seem to be a lot cheaper than its Gigabyte and ASUS equivalents.

Both cards are neck-to-neck but you gain more performance in Battlefield 3 with the 660 Ti. The 7870 has the faster memory bus though.

Looking for some opinions. I'm in the market for a new case (a full, good airflow, room for a radiator or two for water cooling, cable management, things like that.) for about $150 give or take a bit. I've narrowed it down to:

the HAF X (which I can get for around $160),

the NZXT Phantom, even though I have heard it isn't good for water cooling

the HAF 932

CM Storm Trooper

Antec 1200 V3.

I'm leaning towards saving a bit more for the HAF X, but any suggestions/opinions/thoughts are appreciated.

A 21.5 inch 2D/3D Convertible Monitor for $147. Is that a good deal, or a bad one? What's the price of a normal 21.5 inch?

I've got a 19 inch so this would be a step up anyways.

Do you need 3D?

EDIT: My mistake, yes it seems like a good deal.

I mean need for some type of work or something? Nah, I think it'd be nice to have considering Assassin's Creed now supports 3D as well as many other games I like. Overall things look better too. I also enjoy some 3D movies. Comes with a wall mount too, should I need it for some reason.

I still don't quite understand what drawbacks the smaller bus speed has. Anyone care to explain?

I've read that it has more to do with running multiple monitors with really high resolutions.

Should be fine if you're running only a single monitor.

To be honest, I'm not entirely sure too. :/

Just saying, but Passmark is showing that the 7870 is better than the 660 Ti....and it's cheaper.

Who the hell do you think I am?

I know that with some of the newer GTX cards the small bus speed prevents it from utilizing all of the VRAM it's given, so like the 2GB of VRAM isn't actually ever fully utilized

But that's all I know. The bus speed must have something to do with how powerful the card is, I guess. I could be wrong.

In some games, Radeon cards trump over their NVIDIA equivalents.

Metro 2033 is one of them I think.

So uh.....I took a part an old laptop today. It was a Windows XP machine.

Don't worry, I wrote down the product key.

Because it's a laptop from 2005.

Another question about water cooling, I'm looking at the Corsair H100 for low-fuss watercooling at a decent price (cheap compared to custom water cooling it seems). Anyone have any experience with it?

Laptops have different form factors

From what I see there on internals, there's a:
Motherboard
Processor
Slim DVD Drive
2.5 HDD
Wireless adapter
Heatsink

Bus speed is how fast it can access the data
nothing's going to use all of 2GB at once, VRAM is memory for tasks, saving models, textures that are rendered on-screen and for high resolution displays

Remembering things

It's the same kind of memory for the moment: You're thinking of going downstairs to get your laptop charger, or something.

The bus speed is how fast it takes data to get somwehere
e.g how fast the thought of getting the charger comes into your mind, and how fast you dump the data after you don't need it.

RAM is there as well. I will admit that it's a bit tricky to make it out in the picture.

It has a horrible price-to-efficiency ratio, meaning that you can get a cheaper air cooler that makes your CPU cooler, like the Noctua NH-D14. Hell, most custom water cooling loops don't do much more than huge heatsinks. The whole point of watercooling is either aesthetics, cooling in a smaller package, or being silent. If you have the money, get the H100. If not, buy a 212+ on a budget, or perhaps the C14 if you want something smaller.

If it were me I would get a 660ti.

And then we could also play Borderlands 2 together :D
The 670 would be a better investment.

What res? What response time? What contrast ratio? LED? We either need all of this info or a link if you want help.
