Everytime I see someone with a cheap PSU I cry a little. I mean after all your trusting your whole system on a single component. Though honestly you don't have to necessarily get SeaSonic or Corsair; Rockwell and OCZ are good alternative for budget builds.

I always have doubts on the components used in pre-built PCs. In custom built PCs, you always know what goes in them.

And speaking of OCZ...

I'll be picking up this OCZ PSU because it, and its whole series, are the only true modular power supplies that I could find.

I know, but like I've already said it was a pre-built and I couldn't control what I got. I was worried about that PSU for a while, and I even planned to get a better one for Christmas, expecting it to fail eventually. Didn't know it would be so soon and happen so savagely...

But then again, even though the inside of it looks screwed up for all we know it could still work and the 670 just randomly failed. I'm not placing my bets on that, but it's a possibility I've considered. Either way, I'll be RMAing the GPU and buying the new PSU sometime tonight. This one if you missed the link before. And regardless of how expensive it is, I know SeaSonic is reliable and I will not be skimping out again on the PSU, I am buying the best.

Looks like I'll be RMA'ing my 670 and buying a new PSU. I just sent an RMA ticket to EVGA (so happy about that three year waranty) and I'll probably be buying this PSU.

I'm pretty sure this was common sense, since the PSU powers the whole thing.

What a waste.

Get a Corsair TX 650 V2.

You will not be disappointed.

You should check if the other parts work. If you have a spare PSU lying around from an old computer, plug that into your machine which now has no GPU, and see how it runs. There's a chance that the PSU damaged the entire circuit.

Honestly man, this thing comes with zip-ties, it has wire protection and the PSU comes in a drawstring bag.

You see me unable to afford these GTX 670s, and then you break one. This is sad for me.

Who the hell do you think I am?

I just ordered the SeaSonic one. Like I said, I tried my brother's Corsair PSU on my computer and it still had the same problem. If the PSU had damaged other parts (and I'm still uncertain if it even damaged any and the GPU just failed) then it shouldn't even be turning on in the first place, let alone get to the windows startup screen.

And really? I broke it? Don't you think if I was aware this would happen I would have taken the steps to protect my parts?

Didn't you choose the parts from the website that sold it to you or asked anyone for advice?

No, it was a pre-built...

But I upgrade the 560 on it to a 670.

Would you guys recommend getting a gtx 480? Yes, I am aware of the 250 watt demand.

I have a friend who has a GTX 480 and he is really pleased with it so far. It's a beast of a card at a very good price now.

If you want performance for price, it's a good choice.

I love how the 480 now costs about what I payed for my GTX 460 SE (made the purchase about two years ago). Considering I've been able to overclock this baby to 900 mhz core I could definitely see it lasting me another year or two more. Games these days are definitely not improving graphics-wise as quickly as they used to.

Okay, thanks guys. I plan on building my own PC and I found out that it massacred the 560 ti while costing the same price. But don't sli 460's perform better than the 480?

SeaSonic builds Corsair's PSU's, so either brand would be fine.

Thing is, the TX series is completely non-modular. It isn't even semi modular. This is a huge issue if Salty changes his case and motherboard to Mini-ITX sizes. The M12ii is semi-modular with all of the non-modular plugs being essential components. He doesn't want to waste the money on an AX Corsair PSU or a high-end SS. This puts the M12ii as the best value for his money.

I think it's your card. You mentioned about experiencing really high temperatures whilst gaming, I guess that has something to do with it.

I have a non-modular PSU, read up reviews for it and apparently it has a mess of cables. Glad I wasn't the one doing the cable management.

Or developers are getting beter at optimising.

Or both.

Battlefield 3 can run on medium on a i5 3570k's integrated @ 20 FPS.

Indeed.
The mobile version of the Intel HD 4000 ran games like Team Fortress 2 better than certain mobile GPUs.

Not entirely sure on the performance of AMD's APUs however but I heard they are more in-line with low-end desktop GPUs.

You've got three options in life: be good, get good or give up.

Does anyone here know if i can use a i5 3570K with a Asus P8Z68 motherboard right off the bat or if i need to use a sandy bridge in order to update the BIOS for it to work?
