I Finished building a decent computer yesterday.
All I desperately need to upgrade is my GPU and then I should be running high/ultra settings, bro.
Feels good.

Now, to start installing the OS...

Installing the OS isn't that hard.

Here's a video tutorial if you need it though.
I Just built a computer, I'm pretty sure installing the OS was no problem.

I Do need help with something however.
My current GPU has 3Gb memory. (And yes, that isn't RAM.) however, Yougamers is telling me I only have 440Mb on board video memory... and I need 500 to play BF3.
Can someone explain what's happened?

It must be wrong....because cards has VRAM in intervals of 256MB, 512MB, 1GB, 2GB, and 3GB, and the 256MB and 512MB are usually found in super old GPUs.

What GPU do you have anyways? But you shouldn't worry. Just find the specs for 'X' game, and see if your build is good enough to play it. As simple as that.
I'm planning to upgrade my GPU soon anyway, just I don't want to right now if there is no need.

My Specs are:
ATI Radeon HD 4250 3GB
AMD Athlon II 645 Quad core running at ~3.2Ghz
6Gb RAM

It's an integrated GPU...it really has nowhere near 3GB. You desperately need to upgrade, because you don't even have a graphics card.
Ordered one right there.

You're absolutely right, Onboard integrated graphic solution uses your Ram as part of their video bandwidth solution.

In other words, your GPU on your motherboard basically has no VRAMs, it only rely on the rams you installed on your motherboard.

Go with a 6850 instead of the 7770.

Why the change downward? I thought the 7770 was better than the 6850?

The card I originally chose was the 6870. I think according to that website, it is better tha the 6850, so should I just go with that instead?

It is better, actually. If you're willing to bump it up $20 from the 6850, go right ahead.

Awesome. Any changes need to be made to any other part of it? Ive gotten mixed answers as to whether I should upgrade the cpu to an i5 varient.

Perhaps an i5-2500k if you're willing to spend more.

And maybe a Gigabyte board? How's this?
I just like Gigabyte boards mainly because they don't seem to be capable of dying. Asus is still great, but I place them second to Gigabyte, personally.

Apart from those things, looks like a good build =)

I got these cheeseburgers man....

Do you guys prefer nvidia or amd? In my next build I'm putting in dual 6950s, which I think will turn out real nice.

I like Nvidia. I had an AMD card for a month and bluescreened twice from driver crashes. I've had this 570 for about 5 months now, and no problems whatsoever.

Build me a computer. I can put it together myself.. just not sure which parts are better than others.

Budget: $1000AUD

I figure if my $880 laptop can play BF3 on high, I should be able to get more bang for my buck with a desktop.

Give me about 30 or so minutes and i'll put a build together for you.

Does the price have to include a mouse, keyboard, monitor, and OS?
